The darkness (closed)

Benjamin stood up and stayed in the darkness for a while before he went back inside. "I don' like leavin' her to herself." He admitted softly.

"Nobody does, but nobody can stop Little Dragon" Seth said sadly. He made some coffee for them, and sat on the edge of the counter. The cubs were curled up in front of the oven, staring at the roast.

Benjamin shook his head a sipped the coffee for a moment before he stared into the liquid. "Wha' does she hope to gain by doin' this?"

"Seth does not know. Ember Shay is a mystery, even to the doctors. Bethlem Royal Hospital for the mentally ill, patient 23496" Seth said with a sigh. He looked into his coffee before grabbing his phone. "That is the old cell of Ember" Seth said as he showed Benjamin a photo of a padded cell, complete with shredded fabric, and blood drawings. "The really bad patients are relocated to original building, Bedlam. It is all abandoned now."

Benjamin tilted his head to the side for a moment. That was interesting. "Tell me more." He said, examining the blood drawings in the picture.

"Seth can do better, Seth can show Benjamin the videos of the sessions with Little Dragon, even footage of Little Dragon in the cell. But first..." Seth seemed rather eager to reveal everything he knew about Ember to Benjamin, things she tried to keep secret. He zoomed in to some of the pictures. "This look like nonsense, yes? It is not. Dead languages, old gods, things no normal person would understand. But Ember could understand perfectly. Already, Ember could feel the influence of ancestors. These parts here, this is where Morrigan started to take control. Write down everything the voices said. Horrible, hateful things... Speak of destruction of world, a very violent end." Seth scrolled to a folder labeled 'Ember', and handed the phone to Benjamin. "It is not pretty."

Benjamin took the phone, took a deep breath and then started looking through the files. He kept telling himself that he would always love Ember, and it was the truth. As he continued to look over everything, he spoke, his voice shaky and concerned. "Could this happen to Austin?"

"No. This happened as result of psychotic break of Ember. Incident at the temple, all the loss... It broke Ember." Seth leaned over, and flipped to a video of Ember doing her nut, attacking doctors, maiming people, and abusing herself. "The true nature of a person is terrifying. When Ember is scared, lashes out and attack others. Remember, all of the Shay bloodline are insane."

Benjamin shook his head as the video stopped playing and he continued to scroll through the files. "Austin's pretty crazy as well, in his own way." He said absently. "Bu' I jus' don' think tha' either of 'em would be capable of hurtin' someone they love, even in a crazed state of mind."

"Seth knows this, but Ember want to do everything to keep Benjamin safe" Seth said with a hint of pain in his voice. He knew that Ember was just doing this to keep everyone safe.

"I' doesn' matter if she's tryin' ta keep me safe." Benjamin said, shaking his head as he continued to read through the files. "She should learn ta le' someone help her."

"Just be persistent, Benjamin" Seth said with a slight chuckle.

Ember had holed herself in the abandoned Bedlam, and had curled herself up in her old padded cell. She cried loudly, alone in the darkness.
"I'm so sorry, Benji..."

Benjamin was silent for a time before he looked at the last file. Ember had had it rough. His hand tightened around the phone. It was time for someone to help her. Benjamin rose to his feet, abandoning the cell phone on the bed and proceeded to throw his hood up. "Dove stai andando?" (where are you going)
"I'm goin' ta find her." Benjamin answered the Italian Assassin, fixing his outfit so that his face was cast into shadow. "I can' jus' le' her weather this alone."
"But is it wise, considering what's going on with her?" Benjamin couldn't answer that.

"Before Benjamin leaves, take this. Serum will help if Little Dragon go crazy" Seth said as he handed Benjamin an injection. "Go safely, Benjamin."

Ember was doing her nut in her cell. She alternated between crying in a ball, or pacing around her cell, growling and screaming like an animal.

Benjamin nodded and left quickly. He'd downloaded the address of the abandoned mental hospital to his phone so he was using GPS to guide him to where Ember was. He just hoped he wasn't too late. "Hold on ta your sanity, Ember!" He shouted, knowing full well that she wouldn't be able to hear him and that just made him more anxious.

Seth simply watched as Benjamin left. He knew benjamin would be able to find Ember.

Ember sat in her cell, staring at her hands, an evil darkness darting about in her eyes. She shivered, and let out a long breath as she let the darkness take control. She let out all her ancestors, everyone begging to be let out. Lilith, Donahue, Eleanor, Edwin, Elizabeth, Lucifer, Victoria, Dorian, and countless others. The spirits followed Ember to an operating room, and began to dance with their partners while Ember took to dancing with a human corpse. She laughed hysterically as she twirled around happily, the voices in her head laughing with her. It was not long after she started dancing that she started to sing.

Benjamin continued to run, feeling Ezio and Altaïr beside him. Together, they leapt buildings and swung from lampposts. They raced through the city and out of London. He didn't stop. His momentum was sending him forward and when he dropped from the last rooftop of the city, he fell immediately into a roll and continued on, his eyes darting here and there. He'd tucked the injection into a safe spot in his uniform to where it wouldn't get crushed or inject into his own body. It was strictly for Ember and he knew that it was important.

Benjamin's eyes adjusted instantly as his Sight began to come to the forefront. Unimportant items became dark gray, almost black to his eyes. The only thing that would stick out in this sight would be what he was looking for, be it information, a target or allies. Hell, even places of interest were highlighted for him. And this time, he picked up a soft glowing of orange just ahead of him. He picked up speed as his sight faded and brought back the livid colors of nature. He prayed to God that he wasn't too late to save her. "Ember!" He shouted as he drew closer to the building.

Ember waltzed around the asylum, constantly singing and laughing. To most people, she looked to be a few plums short of a fruitcake. Ember found an old girney, and decided to ride it down the hallway. A window was coming up soon, and Ember jumped off. She laughed hysterically as she watched the girney crash through the window, and fall to the ground below. Anybody walking past the asylum would have witnessed the crash.

Benjamin heard the breaking of glass and saw something fly out the window. His speed increased until he crashed through the doors and made his way through the place, calling Ember's name all the while.

Ember stopped dead in her tracks upon hearing Benjamin's voice. It was almost like a tiny part of her remembered him. Within a second, all the hesitation was gone.
"Sorry, but Ember's not here right now!" Ember ran off through the dark halls, laughing hysterically. The air behind her was freezing cold, come to think of it, the whole building was freezing.

Benjamin shivered. Something was definitely wrong. He'd only ever sensed this cold once and that had been when Austin had almost gotten possessed by his ancestor. "Ember!" He shouted again, racing after the hysterical laughter. He absolutely had to make her remember him! Somehow.

"Hell is empty, and all the devil's are here" Ember shouted almost as if it were some kind of twisted song. She moved like an animal until she came to a dead end. Ember paced along the wall, growling and snarling like a vicious animal. She was trying to find a way out, clawing and hitting the walls. Empty pill bottles fell from her pockets, all of them high scheduled medication.

Benjamin shivered and stopped in the hallway that protruded into a dead end. He watched Ember for a moment before he took a deep breath and reached a hand into the secret special pocket that he'd put the injection into. "Ember, I need ya ta le' me help ya." He said slowly, taking a single step toward her.
"Careful, young one." Benjamin could sense it through the two great Assassins. Ember wasn't just portraying all her Ancestors at once. She felt like she was becoming a demon herself...Benjamin had heard the stories of her ancestors, of how the Shays got their power from the depths of hell. But he wasn't afraid.

Ember tried to back away from Benjamin, she looked like she wanted to get away from him. Then she took a step forward, laughing sinisterly. She held her hands like they were claws, and swatted at Benjamin. She could feel something wet and warm under her nails. Ember moved to do some real damage, the look in her eyes saying she wanted to kill him. She lunged towards him, aiming straight for his throat.
"NO! I WON'T LET YOU KILL HIM" Ember shouted before she raced past Haemon, and threw herself out of the window.

"Ember!" Benjamin shouted, throwing himself out the window after her. He plummeted rather quickly and reached out to her despite the stinging trail of claw marks on his cheek. He reached out and grabbed her arm before he pulled her to him and flipped over so that he would take the impact of the ground. But before either one of them touched the ground, he stuck the injection into her arm and pushed the plunger down. Perhaps that would help her.

Then the ground struck him hard and the wind was knocked from his lungs. He was sent sprawling away from her and laid in a heap on the ground, trying to regain his breath while his vision swam in front of him.
