The darkness (closed)

Ember lay there for a moment, gasping desperately for breath. She looked to her side, and started to cry when she saw Benjamin lying not to far from her. Ember crawled towards Benjamin, hoping that he was still alive. She curled up beside him, made the emergency call, and held Benjamin's hand.
"Help... Here... Soon..." Ember was so hopped up on drugs, and medication, not to mention the fading presence of Morrigan, she couldn't really make sense of what was happening. She just held Benjamin's hand, and waited for help.

After what felt like an eternity, a helicopter finally arrived. It wasn't a hospital copter, from the markings, it belonged to Abstergo.
"Let's get them out of here. Make sure Lady Shay is restrained, and keep him alive..."

Benjamin could hear faded voices from above him. He made a move to try and get up, but his body wouldn't respond. It'd taken too bad of a hit. Even the voices of Ezio and Altaïr were faded. "Stay alive, Benjamin!"
[color:3c85=gray=]"You've so much to live for, figlio." Benjamin tried drawing in air to his lungs, but even that hurt and he wound up coughing quietly instead. The motion of the cough hurt his body. Something had to have been wrong and yet he couldn't feel anything. The wind was just knocked out of him is what he thought. Yet the worried voices above said otherwise.

The men loaded Ember and Benjamin into the helicopter, and took off. Ember was fighting for her sanity. She wanted to help Benjamin, but she couldn't do anything. The men were doing everything they could to help Benjamin. One of the men was looking at the empty bottles he had found on Ember's person.
"Jesus! How is she still alive?!"

When they touched down, they were raced off to surgery.

Benjamin barely knew where he was. All he knew was that he was in pain. "Stay alive." At the very least he could breathe again, even if it was just slightly. He still could barely move and his vision was still blurry. What was wrong with him? Pressure was put on his body in various places, checking him over. Then a sharp pain broke through and made him scream.
"Broken rib." said an unfamiliar voice. "Get him to the back."

"Put him under, we've got a long operation ahead of us." The surgeons quickly scrubbed in, and got to work. They did their best to fix his broken ribs, punctured lung, and other assorted injuries.

Ember had to be sedated when she heard Benjamin's screams.
"We can't let her die, she's the Grand Master's daughter!"
She had to have her stomach pumped on account of all the medication. All her major injuries were seen to and stitched up.

"Benjamin."
"Wake up, figlio." Benjamin's eyes peeked open slowly. His vision blurred for a time before everything around him became clear again. He was lying in a bed with soft sheets and could hear the sound of a heart monitor beeping next to him. There was the feeling of stiffness in one of his arms and when he peered down to look, he saw an IV sticking out of his arm. Where was he? He felt tightness around his side and abdomen and his lungs hurt. What had happened? How'd he get here?

"You're a fighter, you know that? Your injuries would have killed any normal man. Operation went smoothly, no complications." The doctor checked all of Benjamin's vitals, and checked the drip. "You're at the Teutonic hospital, more specifically, the Templar Master wing. You jumped out of the fourth floor window of Bedlam. You were found with the Grand Master's daughter."

"Ember...." Benjamin coughed the second he uttered her name, his lungs hurting with the effort of trying to give him more oxygen. He'd jumped out of a window? He remembered leaping after her to save her. He closed his eyes for a moment to try and get his lungs to cooperate again. He took a shaky breath and asked where she was as best as he could. It was obvious he didn't care about himself at that moment. "Is....is she...okay...?" He coughed again. No more speaking for him for a while.

"Mistress Shay is in critical condition, in the Grand Master's suite. We don't know how she survived. Grand Master Richard Shay, master Jack Napier, and a young Arabic man by the name of Seth are with her. Seth came to visit you a few times too." The doctor's phone vibrated, and went pale before he excused himself and ran off. There were doctors and nurses frantically running around.

Benjamin was fighting to keep his eyes open at this moment. His body was screaming at him to rest, to recover and yet his mind was telling him that he had to see Ember. "Rest, child. You need to heal."
But...Ember...
"She's strong. She will survive." Benjamin swore there and then that if anything happened to Ember, he was moving back to Australia, safe or not.

After about half an hour, Seth walked in to Benjamin's room, white as a sheet, tears streaming down his face. He sat in a chair, and held his hands on his face before running his fingers through his hair. Something was clearly wrong.
"Little Dragon... Doctor say Ember could die" Seth said sadly as he pulled his knees to his chest. His true ears had replaced his human ears, and they were flopped down in sorrow.

Benjamin peeled open his eyes long enough to stare at the ancient god. His lungs still hurt him, so he couldn't very well talk to Seth. He grunted and then wound up coughing. He wanted to comment; to say that Ember was a fighter; that she wouldn't go.

Seth closed his eyes, and looked away from Benjamin. He couldn't tell Benjamin that Ember flattened three times. The doctor came in and whispered something in Seth's ear. Seth nodded, and watched the doctor work on Benjamin's bed with the help of a nurse.
"They've decided to move you to Ember's room so you can be with her should she..." Seth went quiet, and ran his fingers through his hair before heading off to Ember's room.

Ember was lying unconscious in her hospital bed. She was hooked up to a multitude of machines, including a ventilator. Her skin was whiter than normal, and the redness of her lips was gone.

Benjamin grunted and coughed. She couldn't die! "Ember...." He choked out, his lungs aching with the word.
"I'll go have a word with the Shays..." Even though they couldn't go very far without Benjamin. Ben knew that Ezio was wanting to help him get Ember back.

Benjamin was wheeled into Ember's room, and the nurses plugged all the machines back in. Seth sat down in a chair next to Benjamin's bed. Richard was so stressed, and staring at Ember's heart monitor, he didn't notice anything. Jack was completely wasted and had passed out. Seth decided he should message Austin and let him know what happened.
"Austin and Ember in hospital." and attached the address.

Austin had gotten the message rather quickly and had made his way to the hospital. There, he'd exploded through the doors and gotten permitted to see both his friends. Now he was standing in the doorway, looking horrified as he stared at his two friends. Two of the only people whom he trusted. His distant cousin and the Australian. He made his way into the room and plopped down next to Ember's bed, resting a hand lightly on her arm to tell her that he was there. "What happened?" He asked quietly.

"Little Dragon went insane, ran off. Benjamin went after Ember. Ember take too many drugs and medication, and jump out of window. Benjamin jump after Ember. Fell from big height" Seth explained as he put a blanket on Jack, and tucked him in. He fluffed a pillow, and gently placed it under Jack's head. He then proceeded to do the same for Richard. "Benjamin saved Ember from going splat, but do not know about what going to happen with Ember."

Deep inside of his bones, Austin could hear his ancestors. One voice that he'd determined was Haemon was saying that he should care less about this Shay girl. Let her die. The other, he'd recognized as Samuel, was screaming. And the screaming won out. Austin's eyes flashed for a moment before he reacted quiet quickly. He carefully gripped Ember's arm while his eyes went as round as moons. "Elizabeth, don't you dare give up! You're a fighter! So fight!"

Jack mumbled something unintelligible when he heard the shouting before falling asleep again. However, something remarkable happened with Ember, her hands began to move. They balled up into fists, and twitched. Then she began to move, and fought against the breathing tube. The doctor and nurses moved quickly to remove the tubes. Ember gasped for air. Richard got so overly excited, he passed out.

Austin sank down into the chair with a sigh of relief. He'd gotten through to her. Or at least Samuel had. Austin looked up as Benjamin in the other bed began to stir. He looked terrible.

Ember was unconscious for about three days before she finally woke up. Richard had returned to his work at Abstergo, and Jack was out on a food run. Ember rubbed her eyes, and sighed loudly.

Austin had fallen asleep at Ember's side. In a way, he was like Samuel as the Pirate watched over Elizabeth. Benjamin was still recovering but at least now he was able to sit up and eat something, even if it was a small portion of mashed potatoes and applesauce.

Ember looked over to Benjamin, and smiled softly. She vaguely remembered what happened at the asylum, but she definitely remembered Benjamin saving her life.
"Benji, thank you..."

Benjamin looked over at her after he'd finished the potatoes and smiled before he settled back against his pillows. "Anythin' for ya..." He said hoarsely, giving off a cough when his lungs started hurting again.

"No, really. Thank you. I would be dead if it weren't for you." Ember held out her hand, hoping that they'd be able to touch, that she would be able to tell that this wasn't even a dream.
