The best of the worst (closed)

"Love," Nexeu stated slowly. "Isss sssomething I'm not familiar with. Humansss have never harbored any love for me. Nor my fellow godsss it appearsss..."

"Many humans have loved us, and many still do. They have named their children after us, told great stories about us. Brother, they love us like a child loves a parent" Seth explained calmly. He pulled a bit of meant off of the bone, licked his lips, and ate it. "Stop searching for darkness and misery in everything else it will be all you ever find." He could hear the door open upstairs, likely Katherine and Justin heading out to the pub for the show.

Nexeu stirred slowly, though didn't say anything else. Instead, he remained silent and still.

At the pub, Katherine was inexplicably drawn in by the voice of the young singer with ginger hair. She had seen the girl once before, perhaps with Jack back when she needed to be trained.

Justin watched Kat for a moment before his line of sight followed hers to the ginger. A frown creased his brow for a moment in concern. Who was she?

"Isn't she beautiful? One of Jack's pet projects, she was an experiment like us, only got out recently" Katherine explained with a small smile before taking a sip of her drink.

Justin nodded in response to her question, agreeing that she was indeed beautiful. However, in his eyes, no one was as beautiful as Kat and he let her know that by leaning into her and giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek.

Feeling Justin lean into her and gently kiss her cheek made Katherine well up a bit, but she chose to enjoy the moment with him, and would simply brush it off as tears brought on by the music if anyone questioned her about them. She wrapped her arms around him, and gently returned the kiss. She wanted the two of them to just run away together, to escape the entity, but she knew it would always find him. Katherine didn't want the night to end as she was scared of what would happen when they got home.

Justin smiled at her as she returned his kiss but couldn't help but feel that she was sad and it made him frown. He wrapped his arms around her in a protective manner and gave her head a small kiss before returning his gaze to the music. He, too, didn't know what would happen when he got home. However, he was sure of one thing: He would fight Nexeu in a battle of wills and he was certain he would win that war because something was settling in the pits of his stomach. Something sinister was brewing and neither he nor any of the Brotherhood knew what it was, nor did they know what Abstergo was planning.
He just knew that he had to win that fight with Nexeu before things got out of hand.

One of the waitresses brought Katherine a shot of alcohol which she took a swig of, making her feel tipsy for a moment before the effect quickly faded. She spent the performance snuggled up against Justin, having fun with him. Since she owned the pub, she would keep it open as long as possible to spend as much time with him as possible. She didn't know he was going to try to fight Nexeu, she would support him.

The night dragged on and Justin didn't move from his spot unless it was to use the bathroom or get another drink for them both to share. However, he was drawing dangerously close to sleep the longer they stayed, but he didn't want the night to end just yet.

Katherine rested her head on Justin's shoulder for the better part of the late evening, refusing to move from his side unless she really needed to. She saw how tired he was, and knew he probably didn't want to go home where the entity could easily possess him.
"We have staff bedrooms in the back if you would rather stay here tonight" Katherine whispered softly in Justin's ear.

Justin chuckled quietly at her suggestion and kissed her head again. "It's fine," he said, a grin on his face. "It doesn't matter where we stay. So long as I'm with you."

Katherine smiled at Justin's words, and wrapped her arms around him in a warm embrace.
"Then let's stay here for the night" she said with a smile before standing up and stretching a bit. She headed to the bar and grabbed the keys to her room before returning to Justin's side.

Justin rose to his feet and gave a mighty stretch that caused his entire body to tremble. When Kat returned to him, he offered a smile and rubbed her back before he gestured for her to lead the way.

Katherine led the way to a hallway with at least eight doors, a poster of a DC villain hanging on each door showing who the room belonged to. She unlocked the door with the poster of Deathstroke, and led the way inside. There was a queen sized bed in the corner of the room, the walls were lined with various guns and weapons, and the was a glass case holding different versions of her Deathstroke outfit.

Justin looked around the room once he stepped inside. His eyes held wonder and awe at how much there really was inside. "Wow," was all he managed to say, a hand slipping up to slide through his hair's length.

"This is our little home away from home, a place to lay low when we're in over our heads" Kat said with a sigh before taking off her hoodie and setting it on a table along with her keys and phone. "Ended up living here for a few weeks a while ago. Safest place to be actually."
