Rat Removal(closed)

The local the thieves also known as the Rats have started to do more then just steal a few coins. They have started to ransack whole stores, specifically the waterfront distract of New York.

These are not unfamiliar facts. It is actually widely known that the Rats are the ones who are causing the problem and their has been multiple causes where British night portals have seen the robberies, but they do nothing.

Typically the Rats are in groups of five or six. Two look outs, one for the front door, one for the back door. The other four do the dirty work and steal anything that they can carry out of there. There is allows one head Rat that leads the charge. They can typically can be told apart by grey military patches on their shoulders.

John K. Willams has been hired by some waterfront store owners to watch over the store front for one month or until the raids stop.

He has been watching from a docked ship of one of the store owners. On his night watches he brings a musket with a bayonet, his naval ax, and a dagger for back up.

Joseph Wiles was told to investigate the Rats and get a word in with their leadership. He had caught word on the street that they were going to attack a store by the bay soon. He made his way over there in his black assassin based outfit with templar crosses rather than assassin symbols.

He ran across rooftops until he was above the store. He ran his hands across his sword and dagger, checked his hidden blades, loaded his two pistols and rifle, and put his black hood over his head. He waited for the Rats to strike so he could make his play to ally with them and find their leader. He thought he would do this by assisting their mission to rob the store and defend them from the law until they saw he had the necessary skills to join.

He kneeled on the rooftop and watched the store.

John sat and waited. At one moment he thought he saw movement on the rooftops, but it must have been his imagination since the Rats never used the rooftop approach a target store.

After another hour or so John saw moment on the ground. He forced his eyes where the movement was. There they were!

The Rats have finally made their move. John quickly grabbed his musket and leaped of the ship quietly. He could see that they were picking the lock. John approached the store slowly and in the shadows of the stands that were left outside overnight. By the time he got close enough to take a shoot, the Rats were moving in. They left one Rat outside to keep watch.

John took aim at the chest of the watch rat. He pulled the trigger. The shoot boomed. It hit the target, but not on spot. It the rat's left shoulder

Joseph saw the entire event play out. "Nows the time." He said to himself. He hopped off the rooftop with a fluid movement, rolling on the ground and getting onto his feet in front of the man who shot the Rat.

He drew his sword and dagger and said to the man behind him, "Go inside. I'm here to help." Before focusing once more on the man at hand. He looked familiar. Joseph couldn't quite remember where he saw the man before.

"Well if it isn't the youngster" John says as flips his muskets around to use it in closer range. John hears a lot of noise from the shop. "Now let me pass I have a job to do."

"My interests in protecting these men are far more prevailing than yours to kill them. If it's money you want, we can buy you off. But I can't let you harm any of these men." He said, walking slowly into a close enough range for his weapons to be effective. He was carrying himself in a defensive manner.

"Hell that sounds great to be paid off." John says with a smirk.He then starts to side stepping turn both of them slowly as they talk. "But this is the one case I can not fail the job. I don't plan on killing anyone. I just need one to find out the location of the leader." By this time Johns left should is facing the shop as he faces the other an straight on. "I can't let these Rats keep stealing from this poor people, especial since I have seen where they come from."

"Well our mission is the same, although our motives are different. Perhaps if you didn't start shooting first and asking questions later,we could have worked togethe . But the fate of my mission now includes defending these men." Joseph put his dagger back into his belt and drew a pistol instead. The gang was no doubt watching from the windows of the shop. "Surrender now and you may leave unharmed."

"Again boy you walked in before drawing your gun" Just like John did on the ship with his ax. He flipped his musket causing the gun to go upward and fire, but this time he thrust the musket into the mans foot. It didn't all work out perfectly though. Since they weren't as close as on the ship, the gun fired sooner and necked Johns left ear. John's face showed pain. "Damn!"

Joseph fell over in pain on his knees. "Mercenary bastard." He limped onto his feet and lunged for the man with his sword.

John dodge still right and brushes the blade slightly left with the barrel of his musket. He quickly hits the butt of the gun on the man's hand/wrest area. He can feel his blood pumping. He hasn't foot this close range in a long time. "Why do you help men that rob from the poor." He can feel his ear throb.

"Sacrifices must be made in order to talk with their leader. I'd much rather a man lose his profit for the day, than lose their life. And it seems you don't care either way." Joseph kicked the man in the shin and elbowed his back (if he bent over in pain.) His next move would be to grab his dagger.

He slightly bent over from the kick to the shin and dropped to his knee from the hit to the back, but he also willing dropped to his knees. He knew the perfect shot he could take at this angle. John with force, lefted his musket butt into the mans genital. Then headbutted the man as he bent over in pain.

Joseph doubles over from the blow to his genitals, and collapses after the headbutt. A cut on his head forms near the impact point, blood dropping slowly down his face from it. He drops his sword and puts a hand over his groin. "That was extremely low... even for a mercenary..." He takes a moment to let the pain subside.

{Hey, just a little word of advice - normally, you would want to write in past tense - right now, it's as if it is happening... well, right now.

Ex:Michael was having a good day - he had conquered a Man O' War, and had saved five prisoners from it. He turned towards his Helmsman, and said, "We set sail towards New Albany. Get us there before next week." He joked. He was tall, compared to little - he stood at 5'11, and had brown hair.

See? If you wish to keep the flow of 18th century or so, It is best to use past tense. Also - a little something else - try to write in at least three or four sentences - and make sure to keep it lively, but not too action packed - your characters are human.

John slowly stood up, "I" He slammed the butt of the musket into man's stomach as he lay there. "DONT" he does it again, but now on the right shoulder "CARE" Then to the left.John spits, but not on the man. He was angry at the man, but respected him. It had been sometime since someone had brought John to his knees.

John glanced at the store. The Rats had left and it looked like they took a decent amount from the store. John Had failed his job. He was not going to get paid, at least not the full amount. He then looked back at the man. He may had gone over board on this one.

Joseph turned on to his side, and spat out blood. He lowered his hood and coughed, before crawling in a pathetic manner against the wall of the store. No matter how much he hated it, tears began to run down his face with the blood. It felt as though the only part of his body that wasn't injured were his legs.

He closed his eyes and tried to slow his heavy breathing. The worst of the pain was still in his groin.

"Come on lets get you to a doctor" John said. He could tell that the man, no boy, had been broken both physical and emotionally. John held out his hand. "You aren't the type of person who should let one fight cripple them"

Joseph wasn't sure if the man was serious. After all, he just beat the living hell out of him. He asked, "Why... would you help me?" and then took the man's hand.

John pulled the man up. "Because I have killed more men then you probably have laid eyes on, but I have never killed a kid." He paused and then sighed "Besides my job was to watch over the store, not kill. Actually the one thing I wasn't allow to do on this job was kill anyone."

Joseph could hardly walk due to the pain shooting through his body, so he put his arm around the strangers shoulders and leaned on him for the walk to the doctor. "I'm not.." He cringed from a sting he felt on his head wound. "I'm not a boy." He said, hardly even believing it himself. His pride gave him no choice however. "If you arent... supposed to kill anyone, why.... did you shoot that man?"

"If you say so kid" John said as he held the weight of both of them up. "I shot because I have terrible accuracy . I aimed for the center of the chest and barely hit his shoulder. I knew I would not actually kill him."

They slowly made their way to John's usual doctor. It took less then ten minutes. The man was lucky that John did a decent amount of work in the water front area so he had a few connection. John kicked at the door loudly. "O'Riley open up! I got a patient for you."

"If I can still shoot after this maybe I'll teach you a few things... I was the best shot back in Dublin." Joseph said. The pain was somewhat stronger now that his adrenaline had subsided. "And as a side note, groin shots are majorly uncalled for." He said in a stressed voice which he used to emphasize the aching he felt.

The door flung open. A man stood in the doorway. He had a no hair on the top of his head, but a massive orange beard on his chin He looked about 40. He stood at the same height of John and was built the same. His hands though looked like they were taken extra care of. "God dam' John. It's fucken two in da fucken morning" the man said with an Irish accent.

John pushed pass the man "Oh shut it O'Riley. I have came here earlier" John laid the man he held up on the table in the room.

"Ya messed up another one didn't ya?" O'Riley replied.

"Yes I did. All with a musket. A foot wound, groin shot, possible broken shoulders and maybe inside damage by the stomach" John answered.

Joseph laid down on the table and began to take off his weapons and unnecessary accessories. Within minutes he was down to only his black hooded outfit. He then laid back and wiped blood from the side of his face. His breathing was finally steady. Although none of the pain subsided. He laid one arm over his stomach and the other over his groin.
