"Ah - nothing much. I just got up from my cabin - got on my secondary robes." He said, signifying the dark robes he was wearing. "Also - Jonathon almost choked on burnt sugar cane, apparently"

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

"Happens to us all" Elizabeth chuckled before she began chewing on a piece of sugar cane. "There's a trick to eating the stuff. The raw stuff isn't half as sweet, and the hairs get embedded in your hands." Elizabeth's stomach felt like it was in the process of digesting itself, and the sugar cane did little to help her appetite. "So, Damian, when do you think we should set sail again" Elizabeth asked as she bought a fish from one of the freed slaves, and began roasting it over the fire.

PostSubject: The Wave   May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open) - Page 12 EmptyTue Feb 17, 2015 1:55 am

The wind was hard and the rain left its mark on the crew aboard The Eve. "Rouge wave ahead capt'n!" Thomas faced his quartermaster, Fredrick, he was a loyal man, young, attentive, he never questioned his Captain's motives. "Full sail ahead!" Thomas shouted as he spun the ship so it would face the massive wave, "Brace!" Thomas ordered his crew as the ship passed over the wave easily, "Good brig she is!" Fredrick smiled showing his slightly yellow teeth that rested beneath his wrinkled lips. "She hasn't aged." Thomas laughed, "can't say the same about us, though!" The crew laughed as the captain made his joke, "Now if we're going to head over to Nassau were going to need Ale!" Captain Thomas waved off one of his deck hands to grab the Ale. "Off to the land of the free!" Thomas nudged Fredrick, "We sleep another day, so our fucking fortune will greet us the next!" Fredrick envied his captain who he noticed was serious in times of tension, but once that tension broke his captain switched personalities faster than the rest. "Word is Captain Kenway is planning to liberate more lands!" Fredrick was enthusiastic, his eyes showed hope, the unshaven pirate who was Thomas' best friend knew how to make the mood light. Once the ale arrived from the captain's cabin everyone drank, "Howabout a shanty?" Thomas announced as his men began to sing, the sun was setting, the beauty of the sea seeped into Thomas' heart as he quickly became drunk with happiness.

(This takes place in 1720; so Bonny, Kenway, Read, and Vane are all at Port Royal's prison. However, Elizabeth and the others are planning to take back Nassau in "Assassin of the Black Flag" which is now in 1719.)

"98-guns Second Rate ship of the line. Three gun decks, a crew of seven hundred and sixty men, enough masts to cover a damned palace. This is everything you wanted, am I not wrong?"

Daniel smirked, looking at his friend as he wandered around the great ship, running his hands over the painted railings, looking down the long and massive deck. This was, indeed, everything he'd had in mind. He could see hole barrels of flintlocks and powder, and felt a smile creep along his face as he watched a pair of officers patrolling the deck, ensuring the large crew was operating properly.

The HMS Queens Night. The finest ship of all, in the eyes of the Scotsman.

"Daniel, may dear young lad, this will be everything we need. Enough to take on anything the Spanish or French could dare throw our way. Not to mention whatever pesky little ankle biter the pirates may be able to subdue into their cause."

Stodd looked out over the port, at some thirty five ships, ranging from sloops to frigates, to even a select few Third Class ships. So many more than he'd ever expected had come, all to join in this new hunt. He only wondered how long he'd have these ships by his side - certainly not long. He'd need to move out soon, against the pirates.

"Daniel, we must discuss where to strike. The pirates may not be as strong as they once were, but they're certainly not weak. I suspect they'll either be hiding away near the gulf, in an attempt to hide behind the navies of the Spanish, or off in the Bahamas, to hop around the islands like a disease. We'll need to pick one, and blow it to Hell and back. We need to capture a few choice pirates, but their ships and crews couldn't mean less to me."

Daniel walked with Stodd into the quarters, sitting down on the pillowy seat and thinking quite hard. To him, it seemed far too risky to head to the gulf; chances were that Stodd was overestimating how the pirates felt about him. He knew of the pirates, and knew it was more likely they'd headed to Andros, Great Inagua, or Abaco. Wherever they were, it wouldn't mean much in the end.

"We'll head up to the Bahamas. That's where they'll be. We can stop at Nassau, and from there we can search for any signs of them. I know you've got a few pirates you've got your eyes on, but if we're able to get a hold of the Demon, the others will come to us."

Stodd tightened his grip on an apple, breaking it in a few spots as his friend spoke the title he so deeply hated. He turned to speak, but not before Daniel cut in, and asked something Stodd much preferred to answer.

"What did you mean when you said she bled from the gut, Roger?"

Stodd sat down at the desk, opening the draw. Exactly as he'd commissioned it - even stocked. He pulled out an ivory wheellock pistol, holding it in his hands and looking out the window, before putting it back down. He relished to feel that moment again, of pulling that trigger. He only wished he could've seen the look in her face.

"Get comfortable. This is a longer story than you'd expect."

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

"So this fleet of yours, how large is it" Morgana asked as she tried her hand at a piece of sugar cane.
"You've already seen it. I've only got the three ships, schooner, brig, and the frigate. The Tiger Shark, my first brig. The Sentinel, a first-rate frigate I pinched quite a while back. And the Benjamin, I took the liberty of adding it to the fleet when Hornigold died."
"Ah, so that's who your former lover was. Now I know why we haven't been able to track you down."
"Aye, he was a good man" Elizabeth chuckled before she returned to her fish. Morgana sat in thought, nibbling at her piece of sugar cane.
"Tell me, how do you intend to take on the Commodore with such a small fleet?"
"You'll see..." Elizabeth chucked the stick into the fire, along with the remains of the fish. "Damian, how do you feel about sinking some British ships with me. Not to mention we'll also be sending the British a big "Up yours!" God knows we'll need every ship we can find." While Elizabeth had more than a few fleets she could call upon, she had learnt that even one ship could make a difference. Another thing she had going for her, was that she knew the waters like the back of her hand, and she would use the ocean's wrath to her advantage.

Damian looked down at Elizabeth, and put a hand on her shoulder. "Elizabeth, you had me at "Sink some british". I will always stand by your side, if it includes killing some." Damian grinned, and walked back up to the wheel "Also, I have an idea... If we have the slightest clue where they may strike and when, it could make all the diffrence. If it is a foggy day we intend to strike, we can take a few by surprise - even almost sink some ships before we even get hit. Just an idea, though." Damian, instead of grabbing the wheel, decided to lean on the railing closest to it.

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

Elizabeth couldn't help but smile at Damian's plan. Sure it was such a simple plan, but it would be highly effective.
"Ben did something like that last year, when he was trying to get away from Kenway. It almost worked too, except that bastard Kenway caught up with him, and... You know the rest. I figured, when the time comes, we draw the British to the Devil's Backbone." Elizabeth ran her thumb over the blade of her boarding axe, and frowned before she pulled a whetstone from her pocket, and began sharpening her axe. "I'm willing to bet that the Commodore will come after us with the biggest ships he can find. A man o' war wouldn't be able to escape the backbone so easily. What do you think?"

Abah

Abah walked along the grounds of the plantation, smiling a little to himself. This is what freedom is; men all equal to trade, to talk without the fear of the whip and most of all, what to fight for. When his ship was getting resupplied, observing the populace was something Abah always did. The arrival of the new ship peeked his interest however; arrivals always meant new information.

Walking up to the new ship, Abah pulled his hood up, "My my, ain't this a ship. And that of the Bucthers' if my eyesight serves me right." he called out, hoping someone on the ship would take heed and see him.

Stephen Dunn

Stephen had decided to go inside the ship, heading to his temporary bed and decided that he needed some rest.

Damian, before turning to the visitor, told Elizabeth, "Doubt it." He then walked towards the edge, closer to where Abah was. "Correct you are, man. Say - what brings you to my ship, exactly? Can never be too careful of the men I let aboard this ship - I just brought aboard a man I never seen before this day aboard aswell."

Abah nodded his head slightly, pulling his hood down to reveal his face, "Abah, Captain of the Chainbreaker," he points a finger in the direction of the docked brig, "And fellow Assassin. I thought we may speak as brothers and talk about recent happenings. A fair idea, no?"

"Fair idea, indeed." Damian turned to three of his men, and said, "Oi, you lot, lower the board again." The three did as told, sliding the board into the slot, where it eventually met solid land. "Come aboard - we can discuss then."

Abah walked onto the ship, nodding his thanks to the crew members as he did so, "Me and my crew were sailing these waters when a fleet of British vessels came across up. We took a bit of a beating but we're alive and all patched up." Abah paused for a moment, "What brings my brothers to these waters?"

"Britiah, you say... Ah, I'll get to that later..." Damian sighed, and said, "Came here to resupply and the sort - Heading to Ingua, as of late. And, also - I believe I know why the british were out on the seas. You see, we resuced Elizabeth-" He pointed back to Elizabeth. "-From a certain British Templars, and i do believe... you came across our pursuers."

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

Elizabeth looked at the new arrival cautiously, and wondered if he had known her father. Sure her father was a Templar slave trader, but he used to free the slaves he was tasked with trading. Freed slave or not, there were more pressing matters at hand.

At the mention of her name, Elizabeth nodded.
"Aye, that bastard'll hunt us down to the ends of the earth unless we put a stop to him." Elizabeth moved her fingers over the wounds left on her face by the Spanish tickler; her father's Templar ring shining in the light. "And I intend to end his life with the very same bullet that almost put a permanent end to mine." Elizabeth ran her thumb along the edge of her axe, and smiled before she returned the axe to its holster only to free its twin and repeat the process of sharpening the blade. "How large was his fleet?"

Abah paused for a moment, seeing Elizabeths' ring and the scar across her face, "A frigate with two brigs and escort. Mainly gunboats. I fear however if you prove to be right this templar will have far more that that." he replied, "I wouldn't be surprised if he sought of pirate hunters to bolster his own forces." He kept his questions to himself for now, this matter is important.

(Just thought I'd throw this out there: I love the bits written about the Commodore and Daniel. I take it the Commodore doesn't know Daniel is an Assassin?)

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay, and Morgana O'Reilly

“Aye, he’s a Commodore in the British Royal Navy. Wouldn’t surprise me if he showed up with a few men o’ war, or you know, the entire Navy!”
“Calm down, Morgana” Elizabeth said calmly before she turned her attention to Abah. “Brigs, gunboats, and a frigate you say? Looks like we can set the Sentinel and the Maybelle up against the frigate, then the Tiger Shark and some others can take care of the rest.” Elizabeth thought about the idea of pirate hunters, and her face went red. “Had Kenway not killed Hornigold, he might have been able to influence the pirate hunters. But he’s dead, as are Burges and Cockram, so we’ll need to come up with a plan for them.” While Elizabeth and Ben had broken up a long time ago, and Elizabeth had been married, she still had a soft spot for Hornigold.  After all, you never forget your first love. Elizabeth thought of all the tricks they could pull. Take the Commodore’s fleet on in a storm (or in the fog as Damian had suggested), use the Devil’s Backbone, fire ships, fire barrels, Hellburners.
“Forgive me, but I just realised I have yet to introduce myself. I am Elizabeth Shay. Mistress of Nassau, and her bureau leader.”
“Morgana O’Reilly, Grand Mistress of the Irish rite of the Templar Order. Well, I betrayed the Templars, so here I am. Soon to begin Assassin training.” Elizabeth shook her head and turned to face Abah, "She took on the Commodore to cause a distraction for our escape, so she deserves a fresh start."

Abah looked at the pair carefully. He had heard the tales about the Demon, who hadn't? The other woman, Morganna...she gave him pause. A Grand Master betraying her order? It felt too good to be true, at least to his ears, "Ah Tabai should decide her fate, not you Elizabeth. While I hold respect for your actions, her I do not trust. If she is truely does want a fresh start then so be it. I would hate for the Brotherhood to be compromised and for these people to become targets."

He paused, letting it sink in, "For the task at hand, I doubt that it was the Commodores' only fleet, he is bound to have more. I will assist you in your journey to Ingua," He pointed a finger at Elizabeths' scar on her face, "It is clear the Commodore is a serious fate and must be dealt with, no?"

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

"This" Elizabeth began as she touched the wounds on her face, "This is nothing. I've suffered worse at the hands of our own brothers and sisters." Elizabeth revealed the wound in her stomach, growling as she peeled away the dressing. "This is why I'm going to war with the Commodore. He tried to kill me and whatever child I had led him to believe that I was carrying. First time a British man cast aside his morals."
"If it matters to you lot, I haven't even been a Grand Master for two or three days. I'm sure we can work..."
"Shut it, Morgana." Morgana drew her tricorn hat over her eyes. "I'll send word to Ah Tabai if that pleases you, Abah" Elizabeth said calmly as she grabbed a bottle of rum, and shared another pipe with Morgana. "Don't judge me for my use of this plant, it helps with the pain; even if it does smell like cat piss. As for Morgana, we treat her as a sister. I don't particularly want to drive her back to the Templars, not with how they handle betrayers."

"It would ease my concern. To an extent," Abah replied, "I may welcome you with open arms Morgana, however I will not treat you with hatred, there is too much of that in this world already." He walked over to the edge of the ship, regarding the scene, "Is there anything else you wish to share? If not I will prepare my own ship for travel." he hovered on the edge, waiting for a reply.

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

"Actually, I've been wanting to ask you a question. You didn't happen to know my father, and Templar and slaver by the name of Edwin Shay?" Elizabeth felt embarrassed for asking such a question, but she had been trying to figure out what things were like before the death of her parents. Of course, the chances of Abah knowing her father were very slim. Most of the freed slaves she had met, were freed by pirates. She was yet to meet a slave freed by her father.

Abah stared at Elizabeth for a moment, focusing on her features to see if there was anything he recognized, "I haven't heard that name, however some men in the plantation carried the cross of the Templar. I can't say if he was one of them or not. I wasn't one for befriending my tormentors." He looked away from Elizabeth, "This may help however. If you reach any plantations, look for anything documents of sales. His name might come up there." He shrugged his shoulders, "Anything else?"

Elizabeth "Demon" Shay

"My father is dead, been that way for sixteen years" Elizabeth said coldly as she looked down at her father's burnt Templar ring, nestled on her right middle finger. "And you'll never find any documents of sale because he never sold the slaves, he set them free or took them to Príncipe. Even called his galleon the Liberator." Elizabeth drew her hood, and freed her boarding axes from their holsters. "That is all I had to ask. If you have anything to ask, make it quick. There's Templars that need hunting."
