May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open) Empty
PostSubject: May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open)   May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open) EmptyTue Dec 02, 2014 3:20 pm

"Christ, another busy morning" Morgana moaned as she sat at the tavern and ordered a rumfustian. A few weeks at sea could really push one's limits, if she hadn't stopped at Kingston for a week on business, Morgana knew she would have gone mental. Devin jumped off her shoulder and scurried along the table looking for something to eat, he almost attacked Morgana when her drink arrived.
"Should I bring another" Anne asked confusedly as she watched Morgana pry the angry ferret from the tankard.
"No, Anne. Just bring me an egg."
Morgana cracked the egg open and watched in amusement as Devin gorged himself on the egg's contents, to Devin, it was a pleasant change from the rats he had been eating on the Raven. Morgana drank her rumfustian in silence, for the first time in a long time, she was left alone.

Two men were fighting over a woman, "Typical" Morgana grumbled. While she did find the brawl amusing, it wasn't half as violent or entertaining as the fights she had seen in the old taverns of Ireland. A smile crept onto Morgana's face as she thought of the days she had spent in the local tavern at Clew Bay. She always joined the fights that seemed to be a regular occurrence at the tavern, she was the instigator of most of them. The fight ended as quickly as it had started, "Pathetic. A good fight should last for at least half an hour" she mused before she ordered another drink.

The day went on and by the third drink, Morgana was bored beyond belief.
"Jesus, Devin, where is everyone" Morgana groaned. Devin looked up at Morgana and yawned.
"Another?"
"No thanks, Anne" Morgana said as she handed Anne some coins, "I reckon I should head back to the old tinderbox and see how the repairs are going. See you later." Devin jumped onto Morgana's shoulder before she stood to leave.

"Hopefully we'll have better luck later" Morgana said as she scratched the young ferret's head. Devin ran to Morgana's left shoulder and started barking.
"Don't tell me it's another bloody assassin" she thought to herself as she reached for her dagger. She had a close encounter with an assassin down at Kingston about a week ago and she was still on edge after the incident. Morgana had a vague idea of the strangers identity when Devin's barking ceased for a brief minute before he began to make a sound that could only be compared to laughter, a sound he only made when one of Morgana's friends were nearby.
"Finally, someone to talk to" Morgana laughed quietly as she returned the dagger to its hiding place in her boot.

May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Re: May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open)   May the Father of Understanding Guide Us (Open) EmptyWed Dec 03, 2014 11:16 pm

Stodd had never really linked Kingston that much. Port Royal was always nice, what with all the pirates locked up and tortured as they should be, but other than that something about it never really tickled his fancy. It may have been the Governor, given Stodd's history with law and order, but he wasn't sure. Whatever it was, it wasn't enough to keep him away.

He walked through the bustling colony, enjoying the smells and sounds, though every time he spotted a guard dressed in their red attire he admitted to feeling a little uneasy, only to remember his own blue coat and attire, and their reluctant salutes did nothing but remind him even more of his rank.
He smiled happily as he made way through the city, in his coat a letter for the Governor - he intended to simply hand it to the gate guard and return to the open ocean as soon as he could.

He'd heard of the Assassin problem in Kingston, and their growing presence in the West Indies, but Stodd gave them little to no credit; if he was attacked, he'd have the full support of the Kingston guard. There'd be no way he'd suffer at the hands of some pesky rebels. Even so, he placed one hand gently on the hilt of his blade, as he rounded a corner, only to spot a fairly familiar face.

The woman was about about ten years younger than Stodd, and with a much fairer face. Her tied up hair and single white streak did nothing but help her already obvious identity. A fellow Templar and, whether he liked it or not, a pirate.

"It is incredibly nice to see you, miss O'Reilly. Lord only knows how long I'd be able to handle this town without seeing at least one friendly face."

The two of them had only met a few times before, and not very formally; the time Stodd remembers best was when he'd received word from the Order to meet with a group of Templars near Nassau. Other than that, they'd rarely even seen each other.

[OOC: It is more than okay. If people didn't randomly jump in, this story wouldn't go anywhere. lol! ]

"It's good to see you too, Commodore Stodd. I, too, hate this town. While Nassau used to be a disease ridden cesspool, it was almost as lively as old Ireland." Morgana looked at the Raven resting in the harbour, her men were busy removing the old damaged floorboards. She noticed the look on the commodore's face, Morgana assumed he was wondering what had happened at sea to cause so much damage to the ship.
"I got into a bit of a skirmish with some Spanish a few days ago during a storm. Let's just say, they weren't too keen to give up their goods" Morgana laughed.
"Anne's holding a fine bottle of Bushmills Irish whiskey for me and I am feeling a tad peckish. How about we head up to the tavern, unless you would prefer to just muck about until the others arrive?"

Stodd made sure to make a note of Morgana's mention of the Spanish. They weren't exactly lenient with pirate vessels, and they'd been slowly seeping into both British and French waters around Jamaica and Haiti respectively. If they were attacking Templars, it'd be best to get word in to the Royal Navy to do something about it.

"You know what, some whiskey'd be damned nice right now. Day after day living on watered down rum can quickly get to a mans head."

As he escorted Morgana to the tavern, he slowly remembered that she'd mentioned something - 'the others'. He hadn't come here for Templar business, so he had to wonder what on earth she was talking.

"I hope you don't mind my asking, but, when you say 'the others', are you referring to our brothers and sisters in the Order?"

He looked at her as they walked, a hand still in his coat, keeping a tight hold of his documents. They were nothing too official, really - but he'd be dead before he failed to live up to a mission of the Crown.

"You know what, some whiskey'd be damned nice right now. Day after day living on watered down rum can quickly get to a man's head."
"Aye, Stodd, just be thankful there's fresh water here. Nothing's worse than having to live on grog because the water's gone off. Even Devin wouldn't drink the stuff." Devin, as if by cue, made a feint growling sound.

"I hope you don't mind my asking, but, when you say 'the others', are you referring to our brothers and sisters in the Order?"
"In a way, aye. I heard that a few of the others would be around," Morgana explained as she handed a letter to Stodd, "and apparently a few of the men from the Irish branch of the order will be joining us quite soon. As you can see, they did not mention why, just that it is a matter of urgency."

When they finally arrived at the tavern, Morgana took a seat at her regular table and Devin set off in search of more food.
"Back so soon, Morgana?"
"Aye, Anne, fetch me my whiskey and some of my glasses," Morgana was cut short when Devin bit her hand, "And an egg for Devin" Morgana added as she picked the ferret up by the nape of his neck and held him in the air. Devin hissed and barked in protest, Stodd looked at Morgana questioningly. "It's not hurting him. Trust me, if I put him down, he'll go after you, even if he doesn't see you as a threat."

A hooded figure sat behind the tavern counter and eyed Stodd and O'Reilly cautiously, its eyes never straying from the forms of the two templars. Even when the assassin took a sip of its rum, it was still watching. After about five minutes, the assassin finally averted its gaze and began to speak with Anne. Naturally, the assassin would occasionally glance at the templars to make sure that they had not reached for their weapons, the assassin almost seemed relieved when it saw that Stodd and O'Reilly were just sitting at the table, drinking and talking.
"Sorry, love, but I need to get this to your friends over there" Anne said as she picked up the plate of salmagundi.
"They're no friends of mine, Anne" the assassin grumbled before Anne left for Morgana's table.

"So, commodore, what business do you have here in Kingston" Morgana asked before she took a sip of whiskey, "and how long have you been here?"

"Give me that bottle, it's your fifth one this morning and... When was the last time you slept" Anne inquired as she tried to pry the bottle from the assassin's hand.
"About four days ago, although I think I did sleep for three hours about two days ago. You know drink has no sway over me, I can handle it just fine thank you very much." The assassin stared into the bottle of rum. Anne, sensing it was better not to push the assassin any further, looked at the assassin tenderly, "I'm sorry, Elizabeth."
"It's alright, Anne. I'll see you in a few hours, I have some business to see to" Elizabeth replied as she handed Anne some coins and hopped over the counter.

"Looks like the Demon's here" Morgana remarked as she watched Elizabeth storm off before she turned to Stodd and continued their conversation.

Elizabeth walked around the town quietly, thoroughly examining everyone, it almost looked like she was looking for somebody. In truth, she was.
"I don't know why I keep doing this, I may as well head back to Tulum" Elizabeth mused as she headed to her favourite viewpoint.

Elizabeth sat in silence and looked over Kingston, in a way, it reminded her of Nassau. "I'll have to go back to Nassau after I check in with the others at Inagua. Tulum can wait." Elizabeth took a leap of faith and landed in some convieniently placed hay. She dusted off her robes and headed for the harbour.

"Johnson!"
"Aye, captain?"
"Tell the men we'll be leaving for Inagua the morning after next. Make sure they are well rested, we need to be ready for anything."
"Aye, captain."

Stodd wasn't totally sure how he felt about more members of the Order meeting here. He didn't really have the time, nor the energy, to get involved in another big Templar plot. He'd not turn away the chance as long as it kept him in Kingston, but if sailing was where it led, he'd not be going with them.

"The Irish Rite? That ought to be interesting."

When they entered the bar, Stodd couldn't help but smile as he heard a familiar song. Auld Lang Syne, a classic Scottish poem. He smiled as he sat down next to the fellow Templar, and looked around the room. Kingston, as always, was cramped and sweaty. He could even see some blood on a nearby table. Damned place. And then, even in his own vicinity, the little runt that Morgana kept started to act out. Stodd couldn't tell what animal it was, but really, he didn't care.

"I'm here on official Empire business - meeting with the Governor, you see. I've been sent to deliver to him a rather important letter, and I'd let little more than a bevvy and a lassie get in the way of that."

He tried to avoid it when he could, but in such a homely place, even Stodd couldn't hide who he was. As he scanned the room again, taking off his hat and placing it down on the counter, and letting out a low sigh. He didn't really recognise many people there, but then again, he didn't see many red or blue coats either.

When Morgana spoke up about a Demon, she instantly caught Stodd's attention.

"A Demon? What do you mean?"

"A Demon? What do you mean?"
"That assassin that just stormed by, Elizabeth Shay, she is the daughter of an assassin and Edwin Shay, a templar that my father worked with a few times before. Anyways, everyone calls her the Demon on account of her bloodlust. Even the pirates she works with know that she is a force to be reckoned with" Morgana paused to take a sip of her whiskey, "Rumour has it, she once helped a templar, Dante Lewis Dosset. Elizabeth got between another assassin and Dosset, tended to his wounds, and she even turned a blind eye when our brother escaped. I've heard whispers that she has been ganging with Hornigold."

Morgana watched as the Irish templars walked into the tavern.
"Miss O'Reilly," the old templar said with a bow as he and his men joined Morgana and Stodd.
"Mister Shanahan. Mind telling me what's so important?" Shanahan looked around the tavern, grabbed Morgana by the wrist, and lead her to a quiet corner.

"Morgana, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it, Patrick?"
"It's your father" the elder templar said, a hint of sorrow in his voice.
"What happened?"
"He-- he is dead. An assassin came in the night and killed him in his sleep. I'm so sorry, Morgana." Morgana froze, the news of her father's death was almost too much to bare.
"It's alright, Patrick. It was bound to happen eventually. However, I sense my father's death is not the only reason you are here."
"You're a sharp lass, Morgana" Patrick laughed as he handed Morgana her father's ring, "Which is why we've decided that you should be the next Grand Master, or rather, Grand Mistress of the Irish rite." Morgana was about to protest before Patrick cut her off, "You don't have to go back to Ireland, you can stay here and run the rite via correspondence."
"Thank you, Patrick" Morgana said softly as she slid the ring onto her finger and turned to face everyone in the tavern, "Next round's on me!" Everyone in the tavern shouted with joy. "Come on, Patrick, it's rude to keep a brother waiting" Morgana said as she led her friend back to her table where Stodd was waiting. Devin was running around on the table trying to get Stodd's attention.

Stodd swatted at the ferret darting around the bar, watching it and frowning. He thought on the words of Morgana, his pirate-templar companion, as he grabbed a glass and nearly smashed it over the ferrets head, only to miss and end with a loud clunk as it slammed against the wood. He wasn't sure what he thought of Elizabeth Shay, this 'Demon'. If he'd known of a brother of the crown, or the cross, that dared to aid his enemies, he'd go far from letting them wander about freely like this. The Assassins really were little more than malcontents.

But right now it didn't matter. Stodd looked around at a few of the Irish Templars - dressed in little more than a cleaner version of common pirate garb - as they stood around the bar, drinking or simply guarding. Patrick Shanahan, likely the highest ranking amongst them, had lead Morgana to a corner of the room to speak. Stodd could hardly hear over the music and the chatter, so he made no attempt to. After all, if it was private, he could get more than a slap on the wrist.

When Morgana eventually spoke up, overpowering the other voices in the room, it caught Stodd by surprise. To most, such an offer was seen as a good thing, but after such a private, quiet chat, it hardly could have been. As Shanahan and Morgana returned to the bar, Stodd took one last swipe at the feeret, feeling its hair slip through his fingers, before addressing Morgana again.

"This ruddy animal reminds me all too much of the hooded bastards, slipping about and thinking it's so bright. If not for your relation to the little weasel, I'd have the thing skinned by now."

Stodd looked to Morgana, frowning, before letting out a hearty laugh, as if to say the threat was little more than a joke. Really, the ferret counted as nothing compared to the Scots interest in what had been spoken of between the Irish Templars. Stodd stood up, and took one of Shanahans hands in his, shaking it happily.

"It's nice to meet you. I am Commodore Roger Stodd of the Royal Navy. Though I suppose you'd rather not hear that, given the current state of our countries... relationship."

"This ruddy animal reminds me all too much of the hooded bastards, slipping about and thinking it's so bright. If not for your relation to the little weasel, I'd have the thing skinned by now."
"He's worse than the assassins. Believe me, I've been tempted to turn him into a purse more than once. He may be a pain in the bloody arse, but he has his uses" Morgana laughed as the ferret jumped onto her shoulder where he cooed when she scratched his head.

"It's nice to meet you. I am Commodore Roger Stodd of the Royal Navy. Though I suppose you'd rather not hear that, given the current state of our countries... relationship." Patrick let out a hearty laugh, "It makes no difference to me Commodore Stodd, the Royal Navy is our greatest source of income, it's the commoners that don't like you. Although I'm sure it's much the same in Scotland." Morgana cleared her throat and gave Patrick a stern look, "How is the good Commodore to converse with you in a decent and respectable manner if he doesn't know your name?"
"Sorry love," Patrick replied as he gently grabbed Morgana's shoulders and lightly shook her. "Name's Sir Patrick Shanahan of county Cork, Quartermaster Sergeant in the Royal Dragoons of Ireland. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Commodore Stodd" Patrick said as he tipped his hat at the Commodore. Morgana almost choked on her whiskey, "You're a Quartermaster Sergeant? Last time I saw you, you were still a Corporal of Horse."
"Aye, claimed the rank about eight months ago."
"Tell me, why aren't you in uniform" Morgana asked as she handed Patrick a glass of whiskey.
"To blend in, why else? Besides, the thing always stinks of horse" Patrick laughed.
"Aye, with all the rain we've been having, the smell only gets worse" one of the younger templars added, "Name's Seamus Shanahan, Lance Corporal in the Royal Dragoons of Ireland and this sorry bastard is my father" Seamus said as he slapped Patrick on the back.
"Calm down you lot. Where's Godfrey?"
"Aye, sorry Grand Mistress. He's over there, keeping sketch for those damned assassins. Speaking of assassins" Patrick started as he turned to face Stodd, "Any run-ins with those useless, interfering, and let's not forget, arrogant, knobheads? Seems like there aren't many around here, but there are quite a few privateers round these parts."

Stodd simply stood, one hand on his sword and the other holding his hat under his arm, as he got to speak to, or in some cases merely listen to, the Irishman. He seemed like a lively chap, the very kind Stodd liked to know were working for the betterment of both the Crown and of the Cross. Better than a few of the rather drunken and deluded Templars he'd had the 'pleasure' of running into in these parts.

As Stodd was about to speak, he was briskly interrupted by the choking and spluttering Morgana. It seemed even she didn't quite know the man, though Stodd had learnt to expect even the closest friends to surprise one another when it came to Templars. Working on other sides of the globe tended to do that to you, especially when you weren't given the right to have too much contact, in worry that the Assassins, or worse, got wind of such things. Stodd put his hat on as he looked out the window, noticing the time change since he'd first bumped into Morrigan.

"Any run-ins with those useless, interfering, and let's not forget, arrogant, knobheads? Seems like there aren't many around here, but there are quite a few privateers round these parts."

Stodd turned back to the Quartermaster Sergeant and smiled, shaking his head rather pleasantly; he was more than pleased to note how few he'd been seeing on his travels.

"I've not seen an Assassins flag flying since I left New York for the last time, over a year ago now. And those schooners, I can assure you, stood no chance against the might of St. Irvine."

Stodd stroked the golden hilt of his sword for a moment, before he remembered something else, something he'd been meaning to make the Order aware of for quite a while. It was always worth making sure people knew, even if it was likely quite obvious.

"I have seen a fair few more pirates lately, and most bizarrely of all, I've been seeing Assassins amongst them, rather than leading the crews. I fear they've started to mingle with the crooks, and if they have, we'll have a very different issue on our hands soon, I expect."

"After the pirates lost Nassau, I'm not surprised you've seen many of them. I had to take a few of them onto the Raven, unfortunately, I didn't get any of the more well known pirates, I could only get the ones that used to muck about at the tavern or beach every day." Morgana stared out the window pensively, "If you look at it, we have nobody but ourselves to blame for their emergence in the first place. Most of them served in the Royal Navy during the war of succession, when the war ended, we stopped giving a rat's arse about them. Aye, we've offered them pardons and threatened them with their lives, but they still decline. As a pirate, I can understand why. They make better money than both privateers and the Royal Navy combined, not to mention the quality of life on a pirate vessel is far better than that of one one in the Royal Navy."

"What on earth is going on" Elizabeth wondered when she saw Godfrey standing guard. She was wearing a plain black frock coat instead of her usual black and red robes, and a black tricorn hat. She calmly walked past Godfrey and took her usual seat behind the tavern counter beside Anne.
"More rum?"
"Aye," Elizabeth yawned, "and some food if you have any." Elizabeth watched the templars, especially the men that had joined them.

Stodd followed the gaze of the woman before him, nodding and smiling to himself. The war... Boy, how many things that had caused around these parts.

"Better money and living standards are fine, but when they're hung in Port Royal as examples to their comrades, what does that gold and drinking get them?"

The Scot looked back to Morgana, smiling as he remembered the fairly important fact that she was a pirate - he still wondered how the Templar Order would handle the relationship between the imperial members and the piracy members, especially if the 'conflict' intensified.

"Of course, I hope to not see you on those ropes soon, Morgana."

"Don't you worry, you won't catch me at the gallows any time soon. I tend to stay away from those British ships, so I can claim to be a privateer. Although, I think I should actually apply for a letter of marque, just to be safe" Morgana paused, thinking of her next words carefully, "I won't go down as a snivelling wreck like Stede Bonnet. If I do go down for my crimes as a pirate, I'll go like Thatch, in a blaze of glory. I'll hopefully get to keep my head" she laughed. No sooner had her words left her mouth, there was a commotion at the bar. Morgana watched as Anne tried to restrain Elizabeth, to no avail.
"Calm down, love."
"No. It's bad enough that they have taken everything from us, now they openly flaunt it!" Elizabeth stormed over to the table where the templars were seated and slammed her fists on the table, "I'll kill you for what you did to my friends, for taking old Thatch's head! On my good word as a Shay, I shall make you pay. Make no mistake, I am an assassin, but my threat to you is made as a pirate." Elizabeth left the stunned templars sitting at their table. "We'll settle this on the seas" she sneered coldly before she slammed the door behind her.

"Don't you worry, you won't catch me at the gallows any time soon. I tend to stay away from those British ships, so I can claim to be a privateer. Although, I think I should actually apply for a letter of marque, just to be safe. I won't go down as a snivelling wreck like Stede Bonnet. If I do go down for my crimes as a pirate, I'll go like Thatch, in a blaze of glory. I'll hopefully get to keep my head"

Stodd couldn't help but laugh with her. He'd heard the stories of that fight, and of course, the exaggerations. He'd heard that Thatch, Blackbeard, had burst into flame before dying, heard that the horns of the devil himself had erupted from the mans skull, all manner of foul and unlikely things.

"If you ever get the chance, sail up to Hampton one day. Seeing Thatch's head on that pike, it reminds you of many things. Even as an imperial, it effects me, it reminds me to live for the sea, for the country. Not the gold or glory. Though they're certainly a nice addition to the job, I'm sure."

Stodd had been forced to practically yell as some kerfuffle at the bar made the entire tavern louder and louder. And then, as soon as he'd finished, two fists slammed down right before him and Morgana. It was the assassin, and by God, was she angry. Stodd hadn't really seen an assassin angry before - vengeful perhaps, not angry. It was quite a sight, and in a way, he was impressed. Half of his crew wouldn't have been able to put on such a show.

"We'll settle this on the seas."

As she walked off out of the bar, it took him a moment to compose himself. Stodd looked to Morgana and Shanahan, standing up and putting back on his hat, smiling.

"I think the governors letter can wait. I'd rather go out for a bit of a sail, wouldn't you two?"

He had no intention of disappointing the assassins hopes; he was more than eager to settle this on the seas. God only knows he was most at home on the sea.

[OOC: I know the shade of blue I'm using is very similar to the shade you use, FallenSanity, but I'm running out of colours to use. Sorry. Would you mind posting which colour code you use for Stodd, it's been bugging me that I can't find an exact match.]

"This ought to get the point across" Elizabeth said as she looked up on her work and smiled. The townsfolk were horrified by the corpses of the British officers that Elizabeth had strung up along the branches and washing lines on her way to the harbour.

"Prepare for battle" Elizabeth shouted as she boarded the Tiger Shark.
"Aye captain" Johnson replied.
"And get the Sentinel ready! She's to stay close and fly the British colours, we might need her."
"Aye, captain Shay" Johnson replied as his captain left the brig and headed to the warehouse.

"I need your help" Elizabeth said as she sat beside her companion.
"What have you done this time, love?"
"I may or may not have picked a battle with some very powerful people."
"Jesus, love. Who are they" the man enquired as he emptied his corncob pipe.
"Commodore Roger Stodd, Morgana O'Reilly, and a few of the Irish templars" Elizabeth squeaked.
"Pray tell, what got you so worked up that you had to pick a fight with some templars and the Royal bloody Navy!"
"They were talking about Thatch. Bragging about how his head is now rotting on a pike down at Hampton. It's all a big joke to them" Elizabeth said softly as she stared at the floor, a tear cascaded down her cheek and crashed onto the floor, "You know Thatch was like a father to me." The man put his arm around Elizabeth's waist and wiped a tear from her face, "I know."
"So will you help me or not?"
"You know I don't like attacking British ships or going against my brothers in the order..."
"Forget it" Elizabeth interrupted.
"If you would just let me finish, love" the man said as he grabbed Elizabeth's wrist, "I said I didn't like it, but I didn't say I wouldn't do it. My allegiance to the crown or the templars comes second to my love for you. I'll get the Benjamin ready."
"Thank you, Ben."

"Patrick, I'll need to commandeer your ship since the Raven is being repaired" Morgana said as she left the tavern with the templars.
"That'll be no problem, Grand Mistress. The Tara is yours to command." Morgana stopped dead in her tracks when she saw the corpses of the British officers swaying in the wind.
"I see why you call her the demon, with such violent acts, she should be called a devil" Seamus remarked as he gazed upon the corpses.
"This is mild compared to her regular displays. They are usually much, much worse."

[OOC: The colour code is color=#003399! Don't worry, I've been losing it lately, I had to start quoting my own posts.]

"I see why you call her the demon, with such violent acts, she should be called a devil" Stodd couldn't help but agree. As he looked at the young soldiers, he moved over to the nearest ones, looking into their still opened eyes. He took a deep breath, adjusted his coat, and looked back at the Irish Templars, and their Grand Master. Or, er, Grand Mistress.

"This is mild compared to her regular displays. They are usually much, much worse."

Stodd moved on, staying quiet for now. The talk was meant to be quite peaceful; a calm stroll before a battle, a bit of a tradition to Stodd. But he wasn't exactly at ease seeing the soldiers strung up all along Kingston. He could see guards pulling them down, while scouts made way back to the mansion in which the Governor was staying, while others made way to the fort of Port Royal, to alert the navy. Shouts rang through the town, as men and women witnessed the corpses hanging like fruits from a tree. Stodd felt his stomach curdling.

"Morgana, or perhaps I should call you Grand Mistress, I hope you don't mind my wanting to have this assassin hung from the gallows. It's not right of her to do this to these boys; they weren't fighting, they weren't even mine. They were just doing their damned jobs. I'll let you have whatever else you wish, I just want to see this... demon... put in her place."

Stodd's voice tended to have a bit of a heart to it. Some bizarre kindness, smoothness unlike most Scottish accents. He was a happy man most times, especially when he was in a British colony. But he didn't speak with such joy now. His voice was husky, gasping almost, as his hand gripped tightly the handle of his wheellock. Assassins weren't normally this crude, this hate filled.

It was becoming clearer and clearer that he was not dealing with a common assassin. She was far more than that, but he was certain that the group of them would be able to put this pirate and her crew down, like the dogs they were.

[OOC: I know it's short, but I have much to do today. There might not even be a new chapter in the "Birth of a Demon".]

"You don't have to call me Grand Mistress since you're not under my command. And you don't want to kill the assassin, unless you want a war. Granted, she's a pain in the arse and she just killed about twenty British officers, but she has connections. Cut her down and not only will we have assassins everywhere, but pirates and a few of our brothers too" Morgana said as she handed Stodd a letter. "She's one of us, well she was until Maynard pulled that stunt with Blackbeard at Ocracoke. We're to bring her to master Torres, alive. Keep an eye on her, she's a master assassin and a Grand Mistress of her own rite. As you can see, she'll cut down anyone who gets in her way" Morgana explained as she pushed past a hanging corpse.

Granted, she's a pain in the arse and she just killed about twenty British officers, but she has connections. Cut her down and not only will we have assassins everywhere, but pirates and a few of our brothers too"

Stodd looked at the letter, frowning as he looked back to Morgana as they walked. He opened it up, and as she spoke, read slowly.

"She's one of us, well she was until Maynard pulled that stunt with Blackbeard at Ocracoke. We're to bring her to master Torres, alive. Keep an eye on her, she's a master assassin and a Grand Mistress of her own rite. As you can see, she'll cut down anyone who gets in her way"

Stodd was more than a little angry. Some splinter Rite? Headed by an Assassin? And wanted by the Order? Stodd couldn't comprehend what Torres saw in getting her alive, to him it sounded like she needed to be drawn and quartered. Perhaps he was a little too used to the ways of the British Rite.

The Commodore was quiet until he finally made it back to the HMS St. Irvine. The trail of bodies ended near one of the other docks, and it only furthered the flame within the Scots mind. He took to the wheel, barking orders to his crew. The sails unfurled, the plank was pulled up from the dock, and as fast as possible, the ship was ready to set sail. Stodd stepped back from the wheel, letting his second take control as he leapt up onto the back of the quarterdeck, looking down at Morgana, heading to the Irish vessel.

"I'll see you out on the open ocean, Morgana. May God smile down upon you."

"I'll see you out on the open ocean, Morgana. May God smile down upon you."
"Aye, Commodore. Best of luck to you" Morgana replied as she headed to the Tara.

"Men! This is Morgana O'Reilly. She'll be your captain for as long as she sees fit" Patrick yelled before he turned to Morgana, "What would you have us do, captain?" Morgana smiled before she headed to the ships helm and gently stroked the great ebony wheel,
"Weigh anchor and trim to! Get us out on the water as soon as possible! And for God's sake, get the cannons and mortar ready!" The men rushed about in an effort to please their captain, they were precise in their movements, even without a shanty, they were highly efficient.

"I thought she challenged you to a battle. Where in the blazes is she?"
"Relax, Patrick, she's around here somewhere. I've battled her before, more than a few times, actually. I know her tactics" Morgana replied as she scanned the waters, "She should be hiding just behind Port Royal's end of the bay. We'll sail west and circle around, catch her off guard." Morgana brought the Tara alongside the HMS St. Irvine and waved violently for the frigate to stop.

Stodd had his hands firm on the ship's wheel, barely able to properly think at this point. His anger had done nothing but grow, and as one of his shipmates motioned to the Tara, he ordered the sails be reduced, as he slowed and let go of the wheel for his second to take over.

He moved over to the side of the ship, looking down to Morgana. He climbed up onto the railing, his coat billowing in the winds rushing by him. His hat almost flew off at one point. He wasn't used to taking orders from another, but considering what little he knew of this Assassin compared to the knowledge of Morgana, it was only best.

"What is it you hailed me for, Captain? We cannot wait for that pirate to escape our grasp."

"What is it you hailed me for, Captain? We cannot wait for that pirate to escape our grasp."
"Calm yourself, Commodore. I've gone up against that madwoman a few times before, I like to think that I know some of her tricks by now. If you carry on with your present course, you'll fall right into her trap. She should be hiding behind Port Royal's part of the bay. I suggest that you either follow me around Jamaica and catch her by surprise, or head South then come round and attack her from the South-West."

"You know what to do if I am caught, don't you, love?"
"Aye, but that won't happen. Not on my watch."
"It will, in fact, it must. It's all part of the plan. If the British get me, make sure I end up in Port Royal with Vane. However, if the Templars get me, stay away from me. I have no doubt that they will take me to Torres, and that is exactly what I want."
"Alright, have it your way. Just come back to me" Hornigold replied as he hugged Elizabeth.
"I always do, love." She smiled as she watched Hornigold return to the Benjamin, "Send my regards to the others."

Stodd wasn't exactly happy, hearing this. He wanted to catch this wench as soon as possible, and was willing to adhere to the advice of Morgana and her crew, but such a suggestion was simply ludicrous. If something went wrong, they'd be cast upon the islands banks before even seeing the flag of their prey.

"If you intend to circle around this island, be my guest. That's more than a single days trip, and if you're unfortunate enough to suffer the wrath of the Caribbean, you'll never see that womans ship again."

Stodd stayed his course. He had no idea how to handle Elizabeth Shay. He didn't even know what her ship was like, what size, what speed, what weaponry. All he knew was that if he could board it, he'd make sure to kill the Assassin or die trying. If she was near Port Royal, as Morgana suggested, there'd be more than enough Royal Navy ships in the area to bring down the pirate after killing a Commodore. If she wanted a war, he'd bring her a war.

"Change of plan, lads. We'll follow the Commodore into battle. Remember, that Assassin is no ordinary woman, she's a demon more violent than Thatch himself and she won't go down without a fight!" The sails of the Tara unfurled and caught the wind.

"Frigates off the larboard bow!"
"Ready the mortar! Let's send them to the locker!"
