I saw. My aunt uses them sometimes in her cooking." Claire said with a smile. She was always paying attention to everything Ronin and Fiona said. Always ready to learn something new. "Should we add anything else?" She asked curiously as Fiona watched from the stream.

"We'll see if the Bazil brings out any flavors. If not, we'll add a few more herbs." Ronin said, ruffling her hair with a hand.

Claire smiled as she nodded to Ronin before she began to stir again. "When do we know when it's ready?" She asked as she looked up at him again.

"You'll know when the flavor is perfect in the broth and when the meet practically melts on your tongue." Ronin said with a grin, ruffling the girl's hair once more before he adjusted his hood. "And then tonight will be a special training period for you."

Special? What's special about it?" She asked curiously as she looked up at Ronin with innocent and curious eyes. He had her attention now and peeked her curiosity.

Ronin chuckled, his cheekbones visible in the light of the fire over the top of his mask. He was being mysterious. "It'll determine if you have a special ability like Fiona and I. If you do, then you'll be receiving more special training, which will help you to harness this ability. Though never forget this: just because it's special doesn't mean that we're any different from those who don't have it. We're all equal. Every living thing." Ronin went from explaining the special training to telling her how he and his family viewed the earth.

Soon, he was puffing out a breath and giving a small chuckle. "I suppose the test is only part of the special training. Tonight, I'll be teaching you the way I was taught: as a ninja. Don't worry. We'll start off small, like I was."

Smiling Fiona walked over to stand beside Ronin. "The stew looks just about done." She said giving Claire a smile. "Would you mind if I tasted it?" She asked as she knelt down. "No of course not," Claire said as she handed Fiona the wooden spoon. Taking a small bite after blowing it off a little she smiled. "Might need a little more seasoning but it's just about done." She said as she gave claire a small pat on the shoulder. "Good job sweety." She praised her with a smile.

Ronin smiled and gave a small nod before he added a bit more seasoning, not too much to kill the flavors of the stew or the meat, but just enough to amplify it a bit more. Then he gave a small nod and looked over at the girl. "We'll let it sit for a bit more so the seasoning can settle. Then we can eat. You did good, Claire."

Thank you!" She said happily, looking quite proud of herself. Fiona gave Ronin a tender smile as she walked over to where her saddle lay by Ronin's. Reaching into a pouch which she had put the package in earlier she pulled out a few carrots that Camren had given her as a treat for the horses. "Sentinel! I have something for you and jack here!" She called the horses over.

Sentinel's head came up at Fiona's voice, his ears pricked in her direction. Upon spotting the carrots, the great big horse neighed loudly and trotted over as though he'd been spooked over by a snapping branch. He slowed down and bent his head forward, his mane falling toward his jaw by the pull of gravity.

Smiling Fiona held the carrots out to him and her own horse before petting along their necks. "Thought you guys might like a treat." She said with a smile. She loved the two horses very much and she enjoyed giving them treats.

Ronin gave a small chuckle. "Don't spoil Sentinel too much." He called, watching the black stallion press his muzzle against her chest in an attempt to sniff out any more carrots.

"Don't worry!" She called back before petting sentinel. "Don't worry. I can still sneak you things." She said with a playful smile as her own horse ate his carrots she gave him a nice pat as well before walking back over to Ronin and Claire. "Dinner ready yet?" She asked curiously

Ronin gave the stew a taste before he gave a nod and took it off the fire before dishing out the stew into wooden bowls. He handed one to Claire and to Fiona before he got his own.

Claire blew on her's for a few moments before taking a bite. "This is so good!" Claire said happily before she continued to eat. "I agree. You did a wonderful job Ronin." Fiona complemented as she moved closer to him.

Ronin gave a small smile, keeping his face in the shadows as he ate. "Claire did a good job as well, keeping it stirred."

The wood had begun to creak as Julianne crept towards the stairs. She had kept the documents in hand and felt it necessary to extract them immediately. The silhouette of a Templar guard could be seen near the candlight and she knew she had to make haste. If they caught her she'd be begging for death. She made her way down the stairs and felt a very hopeless feeling, she was without weapons and night would soon runout.

Your right and once Claire eats all her stew I have a treat for her." Fiona said with a smile before taking a few bites of her own food. Claire looked up at the mention of a treat and smiled widely. "What kind of treat?" She asked excitedly. "The kind you get once you eat all your food," Fiona answered with a chuckle.

Ronin shook his head for a moment and took another bite of the stew. "Don't spoil her too much, Fiona." He teased with a wink in her direction. "Someone else might get jealous."

Fiona chuckled and playfully pushed him gently. "Well we can't allow that now can we?" She said with a chuckle as she took a few more bites of her stew. It was excellent food as it usually was when he cooked.

Ronin smiled at Fiona. He couldn't wait until Claire was grown and he could ask Fiona a question. A question that made his face turn red.

Fiona smiled playfully as she poked him with her wooden spoon. "Why are you getting all red in the face?" She asked with a soft chuckle as she leaned on him a little. "What are you thinking about?"

Ronin said nothing. He honestly didn't know if he could word it right anyway. "Something I wanna talk to you about later." he muttered quietly, taking another bite of his stew.

"Alright then. Once Claire goes to sleep." She said as Claire finished her food "Can I have that treat now please?" Claire said with a smile. Nodding Fiona got up and went to her saddle which sat next to Ronin's. Pulling the small box out of the bag attached to her saddle she handed it to Claire. "Enjoy." She said as Claire took the box and opened it to find a small cake. "Wow! Thank you!" She said with a happy smile as she began to eat. "A little gift I got to celebrate you becoming an apprentice."

Ronin smiled over at his apprentice and rubbed the girl's head for a moment before he got himself another bowl of stew. "Once you've finished your cake, go on to bed." He said calmly. "Sentinel will keep you warm and safe."
