Charlotte let out a small laugh which sounded as sweet as a bell. She ordered and downed yet another sherry before letting out a contented sigh.
"School's out for the next month or so so the kids can help their parents with the farms. So you'll have me all to yourself for a very long time" Charlotte said with a sly smile. She had been waiting for the day Nathan would return for what felt like an eternity. "Or at least until the village starts pounding at my door accusing me of witchcraft. Then it's time to run again." She looked at Nathan with a warm smile before ordering another whiskey for him, as well as another sherry for herself. There was something about the way she looked at him, a certain warmth that she never shared with anyone else.

"They won't," Nathan said with a soft hiss. He hated it when they ran her out of town; hated it when they ran him out of town. He was nothing without his Bell. She was the one person who kept him tethered to his humanity and stopped him from becoming the monster he feared. Nathan looked around for a moment and lowered his head to her ear so only she would hear him. "I....took care of the ones who claimed you were using witchcraft." And by that, he meant that he'd lost control and killed them. Nathan's eyes trembled when he realized he had just confessed that he'd lost control and downed his whisky rather quickly, laying the glass down and waving a hand for another one, which the bartender gladly gave.

Charlotte wrapped her arms around Nathan, and gently kissed his cheek.
"Thank you so much, Nate" she whispered softly. She loved that he looked after her so well, and protected her. The least she could do was tend to his wounds when he came home injured by anyone that decided to fight back. Charlotte finished her sherry, and ordered herself a wine to finish off. "It's good to have you home again, my love" Charlotte said in a hushed whisper so nobody but Nathan could hear her. She took a sip of her wine, and let out a sigh. It had been a long day, but it was worth it to see Nathan again. Her Scarecrow... the man she loved was a killer, yet she didn't seem to care about that. He treated her well, protected her, and loved her, and that was all Charlotte cared about. "Are you injured?"

Nathan looked around again before he undid part of his shirt, revealing a white patch on his shoulder that was stained with blood. He replaced his shirt and downed the other shot of whisky. "Bastards got the first shot on me," he said in a mumble, waving the bartender away when he offered yet another glass of whisky. Instead, he reached over and grabbed hold of Charlotte's wine and gave it a small gulp before he handed it back to her. "The second would have shot as well had it not been for my quick draw." He glanced at her for a moment and gave her a kiss. "Other than that, I'm fine. Just glad to see you back in town, my sweet Bell." It's what he always called her, as she'd always sing to help him calm down half the time.

Charlotte hung her head upon seeing the wound, and let out a small sigh. She hated it when Nathan was injured, but at the same time, she liked tending to him and his wounds. Then there was the kiss... that sweet kiss she longed for when he was away from her. She loved being with him, she loved him.
"Come on, my Scarecrow, let's go home" Charlotte said softly, "I stopped by the cottage earlier and lit a fire so it would be nice and warm by the time you came home." The small stone cottage far from prying eyes... it was the perfect home for a supposed witch and her murderous lover. They had spent many nights there together, wrapped in each other's arms when not in the throes of passion. Perhaps they would even raise some children there one day? Charlotte couldn't help but smile at the thought of having a family of her own with Nathan at her side. It was all she wanted in her life. Charlotte shook the thoughts from her head, and quickly downed what was left of her wine with a mischievous smile.

Nathan gave her a nod and rose from his seat before tossing some money onto the bar for the bartender to collect for his whisky shots. With a quiet stretch, he exited the saloon and over to the tether where the beautiful brown and white mare stood, rubbing her head against Charlotte's own horse. He gave her a pat on the neck as he untied the reins and swung himself up into the saddle, reins in hand. Nathan then turned down the path that led to their cottage. It was quiet there and with none of the villagers to harass them, it was their safe haven and the one place he was comfortable with going to after he'd done his murderous deeds. As he sat waiting for her, he could feel his head beginning to hurt. It was going to happen soon. Possibly that night. He could feel it, pumping through his veins like poison...his bloodlust...

Charlotte quickly paid for her drinks before making her way outside. She quickly unhitched her horse, a large black shire stallion, and somehow managed to hop onto the back of the massive beast of a horse. Charlotte looked so lost on that horse, a petite woman on a huge horse. Of course, he was a draught horse, so he had to be massive.
"Come on, Angus, let's get these two home" Charlotte said with a small smile, spurring the horse on. The horse seemed to know the route by heart, and walked the path with little to no input from Charlotte. The sun was starting to hang low, the dying light making her hair look like flames. Charlotte looked back at Nathan with a sly smile before racing back to the cottage, her hair whipping about wildly in the wind.

Nathan seemed to know exactly her actions when she raced ahead of him and spurred his little mare on just as quickly. He laughed as he followed her all the way to the cottage, looking back at her only as the smaller mare beat the large draft by a few strides. She slowed down upon his request and turned around so that he could look Charlotte in the eye. "Sorry Agnus," he said, speaking to the horse. "Looks like Ol' Faithful has you beat yet again." He was smiling despite the rising pain in his shoulder or the rising poison in his head.

Charlotte laughed before hopping off of the large horse, landing neatly beside it. She ran her hands through the large stallion's mane before feeding it a sugar cube.
"Don't worry, Angus, we'll beat them next time. She may be the fastest, but you're the strongest" Charlotte said to the horse with a smile before leading the two horses into the paddock. She looked over to Nathan with a small smile. "Now then, let's see to that wound of yours." Charlotte made her way inside, and tossed her coat onto an old armchair before she started gathering the things she would need for Nathan. She poured him a nice glass of whiskey which she set near his chair just as she had done many times before. The cottage was warm and cosy with different bundles of herbs or small carvings hanging in the corner of the room where Charlotte always worked.

Nathan sat down into his chair with a sigh of relief, glad to be off his feet. He kicked his boots off and began to strip out of his shirt as he had many times before, finally revealing all of the cloth that kept his wound bound together. It was completely soaked through with blood now and one could be fairly certain the bullet was still inside the wound. That was going to be a bitch...Nathan took a sip of his whisky with a sigh afterwards, leaning his head back and closing his eyes as he would always do. It was his way of trying to relax so Charlotte could work on him.

Charlotte took one look at Nathan's dressings, and let out a sigh. She knew it was a bad one. She carefully peeled away the old dressings, and studied the wound closely. It was definitely a bad one, but it wasn't the worst injury she had seen. Charlotte grabbed a set of crudely made tweezers, and looked up at Nathan with a sad look in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, love, but this is going to hurt quite a bit" she said sadly before she set about prying the bullet from his flesh. She sang an old song of two fated lovers as she worked in an attempt to keep him somewhat calm. Once she removed the bullet, she set it in a jar filled with older bloodied bullets. Likely a collection that she had built over the years. She cleaned out the wound, and stitched it closed before she applied one of her personal ointments to the wound. Finally, she dressed the wound properly with some clean bandages.

All the while she worked, Nathan's muscles would twitch and he would mumble his pain, though stayed relatively calm with the help of her singing. It always helped, her songs. Once he felt the new bandages on, clean and fresh, he opened his eyes and took another swig of the whisky before he sat the bottle down on the table beside him and leaned back in the chair with a sigh, kicking his boots up onto the table in front of him like he always did. This was usually one possible sign that his Killer was coming out. It wouldn't be long..

"I love you, and I hope both of you know that" Charlotte said softly before she gently kissed Nathan, her lips soft and sweet against his. She carefully sat on Nathan's lap, gently cradling his head against her chest as she sang for him. It had become a habit for her, singing for him to help him through the switch. In truth, it helped her just as much as it helped him. It had been that way for as long as she could remember, for years.

Ffion began singing in her hypnotised state, she had no control over what she was doing. All that was certain was that Ffion and Charlotte shared the exact same pain during the switch.

Nathan allowed his eyes to close, his hands clutching at the chair, his knuckles turning white. His body arched upward for a second before he stopped, falling still. Slowly, he opened his eyes and wrapped his arms around her in a seductive manner, his head pressing into the crook of her neck in a tender embrace, as what happened always when he turned right in her arms.

Chris sat forward as he watched the scene play out before him with Ffion and Sam. While Ffion seemed to share Charlotte's pain, Sam seemed to share with Nathan quite a lot of similarities. It was fascinating to see them like this. Then that meant...Chris almost rose from his seat. Slowly, he grabbed his pendant and readied to bring them out of their trances. This was all he needed.

Charlotte looked down at her lover, a warm smile on her lips. He wasn't Nathan, but his other side, and she loved them both equally. She leaned down, planting a heated kiss on his lips as her fiery hair hid their faces.
"I missed you" Charlotte said sweetly as she gently caressed his chest, carefully tracing his muscles and old scars. Her touch was gentle, and hot. Then again, Charlotte was always hot. Previous lovers had said she had been touched by the devil himself. But him, well, he never seemed to care.

Nathan grinned and spoke, his voice different from that of his more sane self. It was darker, almost as though he'd gargled a handful of rocks and then lit his throat on fire. "Hello again, Charlotte," he said, his hands traveling down her back. One of them rested on her butt and gave a light squeeze.

Chris frowned and looked from the pendant to the two of them and back again. He was debating pulling them out...he would definitely because he knew there were things that were dark inside of their minds that no one knew of. He only wanted to know the truth, not see their deepest secrets...but this was interesting. Never before had he actually interacted with a pairing such as this.

Charlotte couldn't help but smile at his touch, enjoying the way he made her feel.
"Hello again, my love" she said sweetly. Her voice almost sounded as if it could rival those of the angels, and it probably could. She slowly moved her head down towards his, biting her bottom lip seductively. When she was just an inch from his face,she paused and planted a small kiss on his cheek before pulling away. Charlotte had always loved teasing him like it was just some kind of game.

"That's hardly fair," Nathan growled, his hands squeezing her butt tight. "Why don't you do a little more?" He loved goading her on as much as she liked teasing him. It was their game they always played whenever he changed into Scarecrow.

"Come now, my love, you know that's not how the game works" Charlotte said with a sly smile. She loved dragging the game out, but at the same time, she had missed him, so she decided to break her rules for once. Charlotte leaned down and kissed her Scarecrow passionately, gently biting his lower lip as she pressed her body against him.

Scarecrow gave a moan of delight, chuckling into her kiss before he pulled her closer to him with his hands, ignoring the pain hitting his shoulder like a slap to the face. This is what he missed. This is what he loved...

"And break!" Chris's voice nearly jolted Sam awake, though it did help him to come out of his trance. Slowly, Sam sat up, rubbing his hand across his face a few times before he looked around to refamiliarize himself with the area and to make certain he was okay.

Ffion burst out of her trance, sitting upright immediately. She was blushing violently, and looked incredibly shocked. Scarecrow, she remembered calling Samuel that once, and knowing that Charlotte had called her lover that, Ffion found it incredibly creepy. She leaned back in her seat, trying to piece everything together.
"What the Hell was that?!" Rocket twisted about under her jersey, trying to get comfortable again after being woken up in such an abrupt manner.

Sam looked over at Ffion for a moment before his eyes turned toward Chris, equally confused. "Yeah," he said, the confusion in his voice. "What was that?" Chris didn't answer, instead busied himself with putting his tools up and barely looking at the two. After a while, he looked Ffion and Sam over before he spoke, folding his hands against one another.
"Well," Chris started, his eyes dropping to the ground for a moment. "From what I've seen so far, your pasts are connected to each other, which is probably why you feel so comfortable with each other."

Sam frowned, almost unwilling to believe this. He shook his head and took a breath, as though wanting to say something else but Chris beat him to it. "You, Ffion, are a reincarnation of Charlotte, same as Sam, who is Nathan's reincarnation. It's happened before, but...this seems different."
"How is that possible?" Chris shook his head and went to his filing cabinet, fingering through them for a moment as he spoke.
"I'm not sure," Chris said with a shake of his head, turning around with two files in his hands. One of them had a C and the other, an N. Probably standing for Charlotte and Nathan. After a moment, he handed each file to Ffion and Sam respectively. "This is all the information I have on both Charlotte and Nathan. You want more...you might have to turn to Sam's Mentor for more answers."

Ffion looked really disheartened after hearing the news, it even looked like she was ready to cry for a moment. She hid her face behind her hair, hoping that it would help her to disappear if only for a moment. Her and Samuel were reincarnations of long dead lovers?! No, it couldn't be... Ffion looked at the files before turning to face Samuel before finally looking to Chris.
"Wait... does this mean..." Ffion started hyperventilating as she cried, only calming down when Rocket gently licked her hand. "So any feelings one of us have for the other... they're not real? Just remnants of their feelings" Ffion asked sadly, clearly quite hurt. She hadn't been with them for long, but she had already started to develop feelings for the two of them.

Chris shook his head in a reassuring way. "Oh no," he said quickly. "Any feelings you have for Sam or him for you are quite real. You're just reincarnations. Or, if Sam's mentor has other words to say, then you're just linked to the past. A repeat, basically."
"Which is exactly what they are," Sam looked up at the voice and almost flew out of his seat. His mentor? Here?
"Mentor?" The man nodded and sat down beside Chris, sitting as though he were blending in.
"Sam and Ffion aren't reincarnations. They're a repeat of history. Now, whether they will both end up the same way as the two ancient lovers...that's for them to decide. Every repeat of history makes their own decisions."

Sam had enough of this and clearly, so had Roulette. They'd been there for the better part of the day and he could already feel Roulette surface. "That's quite enough," Roulette barked, pulling Sam's body up off of the couch. He then turned to Ffion and grabbed her hand in a gentle way. "I'm no one's repeated history bitch and neither is Ffion. Whatever our visions, whatever this is...it's not real. All that is real is that I'm a serial killer and she's my song bird. That's all." With Roulette's rage, neither Chris nor the mentor dared speak. "Come on, Ffion."

Ffion dared not argue with Roulette, and quickly followed him outside. He had a point, the may have been reincarnations, but they were not repeats. They were their own people, and they would make their own destiny, together or apart. Rocket claimed onto Ffion's shoulder, watching the two. The second that they were outside, Ffion wrapped her arms around Roulette, the tears threatening to fall.
"Thank you, Rue" Ffion said softly. Rocket gently tapped Ffion's face, earning a small smile from her. "Samuel and I adopted this little guy. I hope you don't mind."
