"Afternoon". William did not knew that man she called father. He seemed like a pirate of some sort. Was he the one that dragged her into the pirate life?.

This was about a year before I met you. Anyway, Rackham, and Kidd are like brothers to me. Vane is like an uncle. Hornigold, we're involved. And dear old Edward Thatch, Blackbeard, is like a father to me." Since Elizabeth never really had a family, the pirates had become her family.
