Shattered Sanity

Roulette only nodded and looked to the sky before checking on the time. They'd been gone too long. "We should go," he said simply. "It's getting dark and I'm not sure when I will take Sam over completely." With those words, he opened up the passenger door for her and climbed into the driver's seat, turning the car on with a roar of the engine.

Ffion climbed into the car, quickly fastening her seatbelt and closing the door before pulling her knees up to her chest. What Samuel's mentor and Chris had said had clearly had an effect on her. She had started to develop feelings for the two of them, but she was unsure if they were her own feelings, or simply those of Charlotte. It was all so confusing to her. Rocket curled up on her shoulder, gently pawing at her face. She wanted to say something, but decided it would be better to say it when they got home, so she simply stared out the window, trying to process everything.

Roulette seemed to sense her hesitation to speak and spoke himself. "I'm sure," he said, his tone hard but gentle. "That if we were merely carbon copies of Charlotte and Nathan, then we would have come about our situations the same way. From what I've read in those files and, yes I'm a fast reader, Charlotte had her dog shot because it had contracted rabies from a wild boar. Back then, no one could do anything about rabies so shooting the animal was the most merciful thing they could do. You got your pets murdered while hers was put down mercifully. And me....we were tortured to the point of snapping completely by multiple people. Nathan...I'm not quite sure how he became Scarecrow... My point is, my beautiful song bird, is that we are different than the people of the past."

Ffion listened to what Roulette said, and froze when he mentioned her murdered pets. God, Jack was an asshole... Then Roulette called her his songbird, and she melted. There was always something about him that made her... No, now wasn't the time for such thoughts.
"You're right about that, Rue. We're not copies, not unless Charlottewas afraid of everything." She took a deep breath to calm herself before looking to Roulette with a warm smile. "I wanted to ask you something... Will you please stay home tonight? I know that killing is a big part of who you are, but please, just one night." Ffion sat in thought for a moment before she smiled rather sinisterly. "Or, I could come with you? There's a reason I had the highest score in the ranks" she said with a dark chuckle. "And I don't have to wear a muzzle and a shock collar."

Roulette chuckled at her words and looked over at her. "What's the harm of me staying in just one night?" He asked sinisterly. "Unless you want to come with me tonight..."

Ffion thought about it for a moment, weighing each option. Why only one, why not a bit of both? Besides, going out with Roulette would mean that he would get what he wanted, and she could learn more about him simply by watching him work.
"Well, I guess I'll be coming with you then" Ffion said with a smile. She was actually really excited to spend some time with Roulette out in the field.

Roulette couldn't keep back a smile of his own and soon found himself scooping her towards him. "Good," he said, something sounding like a purr coming from his throat. "First thing's first. We need to prepare." With that, Roulette let her go to grab his gun and change.

Ffion headed upstairs, and changed into a pair or black skinnies, some combat boots, and a black tank top. She pulled on a long flowing hooded cloak, and tied up her hair before grabbing some specialised earplugs and headed downstairs to wait for Roulette. Ffion put Rocket in a playpen, along with his food, and played with the baby raccoon for a while, enjoying his company. She was both excited and nervous to show Roulette what she was capable of.

Roulette came back down tucking his gun into the holster at his hip before he grabbed his leather jacket and pulled it on. He watched Ffion for a time before he opened the door and grabbed his keys. "You ready?" He asked simply.

"Of course" Ffion said with a smile before handing Roulette the earplugs. "You'll need these at some point tonight. The last thing I want is you getting hurt." Ffion gave Rocket a small scratch behind his ear before making her way outside. She was excited to get out of the house and finally do something to impress Roulette, to let out the anger that Sam's mentor and Chris had made her feel.

Roulette nodded and, after checking up on Rocket one last time, closed the door and made sure it was locked before he motioned for her to follow him. He wasn't taking the car. He never did during his....hunts. Instead, he walked. It made more of a chance for him to get away undetected by the police.

Ffion followed Roulette closely, sticking to the shadows whenever she could. She was surprisingly light on her feet, hardly making a noise at all. It would seem she would make a suitable hunting partner for Roulette. She had considered singing in an effort to attract a victim for Roulette, but she wanted to see how he did things first. After his hunt, she would show him what she was capable of.

He walked down the street like a normal person would at this point, gun hidden from view. Didn't take long for him to find his target: a middle aged man smelling strongly of alcohol. Perhaps playing a little game of Russian Roulette would sober him up.. A smile spread across his face and soon he fell into step behind the man. He didn't say anything for a while until the man stopped to sit down and vomit. "Do you like games?" The man looked a little confused but answered with a nod. Got 'em. Roulette looked towards an alleyway and motioned for the man to follow. "I have a game I want to play with you." Now, this wasn't the normal way he'd get his prey. Usually he kidnapped the poor fool and make them play his game. It was very rare when he would tell them that he wanted to play a game with them.

Ffion followed Roulette from a distance, studying his movements and mannerisms, almost as if she was he student. She certainly found his method a bit odd, a bit too odd... this surely wasn't how he always operated? Either way, she was glad to be able to watch him work, to finally spend some time with him. She wanted to see what he did, since he didn't play his game with her that night. She wondered why, and decided she would ask him when they returned home. Hopefully Rocket wouldn't have destroyed the house by the time they got back. Ffion couldn't help but smile when Roulette found himself a victim, someone to have fun with.

Once they'd gotten to the alley way, Roulette decided it was time to sober the poor bastard up and pulled out his revolver. That seemed to do it. The man started and his eyes went wide, just about as wide as that of a sober man. "Wait," said the man, his voice shaking already as Roulette loaded his gun and gave it a spin. "What kind of game are we playing, exactly?" Roulette smiled and held the gun out to the man, who took it very tenderly.
"It's called Russian Roulette," he said simply, his smile spreading. "It's a game of chance. Will you live, or will I live? Who will die? Two people, one bullet. One chance to live. Will you test your luck?"

Ffion watched Roulette and the drunk from the safety of the shadows, listening to their conversation. Then, she heard what Roulette said, and that he had just handed his victim a gun. There was a very real chance that Roulette could die, that he would either kill himself in this stupid game, or his victim would kill him. She wanted to stop them from playing his game, but she figured he knew what he was doing, and she could always step in if she needed to. Reluctantly, Ffion watched on, watching the game unfold.

The victim held the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The gun clicked harmlessly against his temple, making him jump and give a soft whine of relief. It made Roulette chuckle. He was so confident in himself as he took the gun, reloaded it and held it to his own temple. The smile stayed on his face as he listened to the barrel for a moment before he pulled the trigger, the gun clicking harmlessly in his ear. He then reloaded and handed it back to the man, who took it in hand again.

Roulette watched in delight, listening as the gun rolled, the bullet never entering the chamber. Not yet. It was in the second loop in the gun. It took a few minutes for him to get the gun again, in which he listened to the gun to find the bullet. Once he found it, he quickly held it to his temple and shot, hearing the harmless click. Then, after loading it up one more time and hearing the bullet in place, he grinned and handed it back to the man. "The bullet's there somewhere," he said simply, grinning darkly. "Who will be the unlucky man and get the bullet?" The man swallowed and held the gun to his head before shooting. There was a loud bang and the man's body fell to the ground, a look of terror on his face while the gun spun out of the man's hand and right to Roulette's feet. After a moment, Roulette picked his gun up and walked away from the scene, feeling more accomplished than ever.

"That's it? I thought you were going to cut him up and make a work of art" Ffion asked curiously as she made her way to Roulette's side, quickly matching his pace. She had thought the whole thing would be more messy, more demented, perhaps even sickening. It was her turn now, and she was going to try her hardest to impress Roulette. "Well, let me show you what I can do then" Ffion said with a chuckle before leading the way to the park.

Ffion made her way to an overgrown section of the park; it seemed like hardly anyone ever came to this part of the park. She closed her eyes for a moment, listening to everything going on around her: the wind blowing through the trees, crickets chirping, and the leaves crunching under her feet. Ffion gestured for Roulette to put his earplugs in, and began to sing a hauntingly beautiful melody, trying to draw a victim towards her. A young man stepped into the clearing, clearly entranced by Ffion's voice.
"Get down on your knees." The young man did as he was told, still entranced. It seemed as if Ffion had complete control over her victim. Ffion gestured for Roulette to cover his ears before turning to the young man, and let out a long, loud, ultrasonic scream. Her scream was definitely not natural, and based on the current state of her victim, potentially deadly. Blood was trickling from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. After about another minute, the man started convulsing violently, vomiting uncontrollably before finally falling to the ground, dead. Ffion turned to Roulette, smiling proudly. "So, what do you think" Ffion asked, eager to hear what he thought.

Roulette took his earplugs out and looked at the victim before he turned towards her and smiled a rather demented smile. He nodded his approval and began to move off, heading to the local criminal run bar to clean up. "Like Sam has likely told you," he began in response to her reaction to his killing. "My killings depend greatly on my mood. I only get artistic when I'm in the mood to be messy."

"I forgot about that" Ffion said with a chuckle, following Roulette closely. She had tried her best to impress him, yet she didn't get the reaction she expected. Once she realised where they were going, she ran on ahead.

Ffion had taken a seat at the bar, and had ordered a gin and tonic, as well as a few shooters. She knocked the shots back one by one before she set about wiping the blood from her face.
"You singing tonight, Ffi?"
"No, just drinking" Ffion said with a sigh before turning her attention to her gin, waiting for Roulette to arrive. She wanted to keep herself busy while the girls cleaned him, she really hated seeing that.

Roulette allowed the girls to clean him and his gun before he ordered himself a drink, sitting in his usual booth in the corner. He enjoyed this relaxation, sharing drinks with his fellow criminals. He felt most at home here, much like Sam felt at home back in the house. But they couldn't linger too long. They had a pet to get home to, after all.

Ffion sat at the bar, angrily watching the girls clean Roulette as she tightened her grip on her glass. She wanted to kill them, or at least hurt them. Ffion wiped some blood from her face before heading towards the girls, grabbing one of their shoulders, and squeezed tightly.
"I believe he's clean enough, girls. If you went any further, you'd be screwing him" Ffion growled before releasing her grip, and making her back to Samuel's house.

Roulette watched Ffion leave for a moment before he himself made his way out of the bar and towards his house, catching up to Ffion with quick, long strides. [color=#cc0000]"I sense some jealousy,"[color] he said softly, gently grabbing her wrist with his hand. His pressure was light and his fingers cool to the touch. "Let me put your mind at ease by saying I have no interest in any of those bar maids. They just clean my gun."

"That may be all you want of them, but that's not all they want to do with you, Roulette" Ffion said coldly before turning to face Roulette. Her eyes were a bit red, like she had been crying, or she was about to. "I killed someone in an attempt to impress you, Roulette. I thought I would at least stand a chance, but you don't see it, do you? Yes, of course I'm jealous."

Roulette studied her face for a moment longer before he cupped her cheek in his hand, his touch soft. "Jealousy," he began, the corner of his mouth quirking up in an attempt to get her to laugh. "Is an ugly color on you. I prefer the warmth of the sun on your smile and the soft breeze of your laugh. Ffion, my sweet song bird...you have more of a chance with me than those barmaids do."
