Taming the Beast(Closed with AvaAssassin)

"He would be considered a transfer student." Ronin stated as he came back into the living room with his plate and Ava's. Xavier nodded slowly and looked at the boy.
"We might have some difficulty convincing the school's Master Assassin to take the boy into the school and get him transferred, but it should go fairly well. I'll speak with the Master of the school about it first thing tomorrow morning."

"Thank you, Xavier," Rina said as she looked down at her hungry boy. He ate carefully but still managed to make a mess. Rina would clean it up before she ate herself. She smiled at her baby lie he was the most precious thing on the face of the earth. "I hope you can convince them to let him go to school."

"It shouldn't be too hard."
"One thing you should know about Xavier." Ronin stated, taking a bite of the lasagna. "He's got a silver tongue. He could most likely talk his way out of a paper bag if he had to."

Rina smiled as her son finished his food. "Do you want more?" Rina asked in a soft tone. When the boy shook his head no Rina lifted him up onto the couch and laid him down. "Ok then. Bedtime little man." She said as she kissed him on the forehead. Once the boy was sound asleep she turned back and picked up the plate. Wincing as she stood up she remembered she was still pretty badly injured but went to get herself some food anyway.

Xavier watched her go into the kitchen and soon got a chuckle from Ronin. "What the hell are you laughing at?" He snapped, turning around to face the two of them with a snarl on his face.

Ava chuckled as well but she had never been afraid of Xavier. "Oh calm down Xavier." She said with a smile as she leaned on Ronin lovingly. "Ronin doesn't mean anything by it. You need to calm down and relax for once" She told him smiling. Little hunter had woken up when he snapped though and began looking for his mother. "Mommy?! Mommy!!!" He began to cry. Rina came back in limping as she made her way back to the couch with her plate. Smiling she picked her boy up and cradled him in her lap.

"Don't worry, child." Xavier said with a pat to his knee. "You're safe here." Immediately a large black Doberman walked into the room, looking straight at Xavier. He barked an order and the dog immediately began to do surveillance around the house.

Puppy." The boy said as he reached for the Doberman. Rina smiled and laid him back down on the couch. "Now go back to see and if your good maybe mommy will get you some McDonalds tomorrow ok?" She said as she kissed him again. Ava smiled at the child again and began thinking of her own unborn children.

The dog came back moments later and laid down by Xavier as if to let his master know that all was clear. "Good boy." He said, tossing the dog a treat. The dog ate the treat quickly and rested his head on his forelegs, watching everyone intently.

Once everyone was done eating it was time to go. Ronin of course had to help Ava up as getting up and down was getting a little harder. "I'll check in on you three soon!" Ava called as they walked out of the door.

Rina smiled as they left before looking down at her sleeping child. He looked so peaceful and calm now and she was just happy to have him. "I will never be able to repay you." She said in a quiet voice as she looked up at Xavier.

"There's no need." Xavier said simply, taking a sip of his drink.

Well since we are going to be staying here at least let me make dinner tomorrow. I promise you will love it." She said with a smile. She truly thought of him as her hero and would do anything she could to repay him.

Xavier couldn't help but give her a small smile. "Of course." He patted the Doberman's head, which made him look up at his master. "Remain down here and guard these two." The dog whimpered in acknowledgement while Xavier said his goodnight and went back up to his room to sleep.

Rina said good night to him before sitting back. She stayed awake for a while longer. Normally she took the pain pills that Xavier had given her but she was afraid her son might need something during the night so she didn't even touch the bottle. She would hurt in the morning but it wouldn't matter if her son woke up in the middle of the night and needed something. Laying down she sighed before closing her eyes and falling asleep. When she awoke the next morning she was in agony and let out a sound of pain as she sat herself up and reached for the pills.

Xavier came down pretty much without a shirt on today. His hair was wet and his skin glistened and there was a distinct scent of coconut in the air. He'd just come from a shower. The cross around his neck shimmered crimson red in the morning light. For a moment, he paused and examined the woman for a moment before he moved back into the kitchen, tousling his wet hair for a moment. "What would you like for breakfast?" He asked.

"Hunter likes pancakes." She said as she took some of the painkillers and sat there waiting for them to work. "I'm sure he would love to have some." Just as she got done talking she looked down to see her son sitting up. Smiling she picked him up and forced herself to stand up. She did his morning routine of taking him to the bathroom and combing his hair with her comb before going back out to the living room. "I need to go get a few things for my son in a little bit." She said as she sat him down in her lap on the couch.

"You're not going anywhere." Xavier said as he came back into the living room, bowl in hand and a spatula with pancake batter on it in the air pointed directly at her. "You didn't take your medicine last night. You're going to have to tell Ava what your son needs so Ronin can run out to get it for you. What I want you to do is rest."

Rina sighed but nodded. Truth be told she hurt too bad to do much of anything. "I'll call them after breakfast." She said as she kissed the top of her son's head. She smiled at him before taking the remote and turning the TV to SpongeBob with her son loved.

Xavier shook his head and went back into the kitchen and finished making breakfast. Once the fluffy pancakes were done, Xavier poured chocolate milk for the two and poured himself some white. Then he proceeded to carry out their food first and reappeared afterward with their drinks. Only after he'd served them breakfast did he carry get his own food. He set his plate and cup on the table in the dining room before he fetched his laptop from upstairs and proceeded to play games while he ate silently by himself with Spongebob in the background.

"Why don't you come eat with us?" Rina asked as she cut her son's food up for him. Hunter seemed happy about getting pancakes this morning and ate them happily as he watched Spongebob on the TV. Rina smiled before she began to eat her own food.

Xavier waved a hand dismissively and gripped his necklace. He didn't want to startle the boy with his father's pendant, which was of the red cross. Not only that, but he didn't feel like watching a kid's show this morning. So he simply said nothing and enjoyed his pancakes and video game. Maybe he would join them when he actually could get a shirt to hide his necklace.

Rina just shrugged but hunter got up and moved over to where Xavier was. He reached up and grabbed ahold of Xavier's arm. He looked up at the red Cross and his eyes widened but he didn't look scared. He reached up, trying to touch it.

Xavier's own eyes widened and he immediately placed a hand over his father's necklace, hiding it from the boy's view. It would appear that he was ashamed of it and yet...yet he still wore it. Sentiment?

Shiny." Hunter said as he tried to crawl up into Xavier's lap but slipped and fall onto the floor. Hunter started to cry and Rina forced herself up to get to him. "Aww what happened little man." She said as she picked him up with a wince. "Come on let's go finish your pancakes." She said with a chuckle and carried him back over to his food.

Xavier closed his eyes for a moment before he turned back to his own pancakes and finished them off easily. He sat there for a moment before he picked up his plate and went into the kitchen, where he set them in the sink. It didn't make sense. It had been the red cross that had taken the child away from his mother. So then why hadn't he been scared of the cross that he himself wore?
