Name: Jeremiah Black
Age: Dependent on Memory Accessed [Born 1744]
Affiliation: Free Agent
Appearance: Jeremiah is Caucasian and has long black hair, which he usually keeps in a ponytail. He has a slim build, but is not nearly as fit as an assassin would be. Eyes are a dark blue. A scar runs from just below his eye on an angle down to his jaw.
Personality: Charismatic and suave, Jeremiah Black is a true businessman. Under most circumstances he can be seen sporting a grin and chuckling while jovially dealing with whomever he’s speaking to, usually to sell a crate of rifles or garner information about the activities of the Assassins or Templars. A darker side is revealed when dealing with traitors or other such persons, during which Black is cold and collected.
Favorite Weapons: Flintlock Pistols, Daggers
Strengths:
• Snake in the Grass: Black has no qualms with playing multiple factions and people off each other to further his own ends.
• Loyalty Above All Else: Despite a tendency for double-crosses he has a cadre of devoted associates and values loyalty above almost everything, except his own moral code.
• Betting On the Long Play: Rarely undertakes actions without consideration, when he does you can be sure that it will benefit him in the long run.
Weaknesses:
• What Goes Around…: Events in Black’s past have caused him to be the target of a certain individuals who would like to see his world come crumbling down around him.
• The Pen is Not Always Mightier than the Sword: Despite being able to handle pistols, daggers and swords, Black definitely isn’t characterized by his combat skills. This can put him at a disadvantage when in direct melee combat.
• Cold-Hearted: Despite his outward charisma, Black carries no qualms about executing a man or making decisions that would otherwise be frowned upon – this had led to the alienation of those around him at points.
Background/Biography:
There are very little historical records regarding Jeremiah Black. It is known he was born in Boston in September of 1744, but after that there is no further information until he surfaces again over two decades later as a trader and merchant, sailing on a ship throughout the Atlantic to ports far and wide. This continued until 1769 when Jeremiah was arrested by the British Navy and imprisoned for several years. No official charges were listed.
Despite officially being imprisoned from 1769 until 1773 Black resurfaced in 1773 as a dealer in arms and illicit materials, leading some to believe he may have escaped from prison many years prior.
Black profited greatly during the American Revolution, selling weapons and information to both sides of the conflict. Sources suggest that he was searching for someone or something throughout the revolution, using his contacts on both sides to lead him to what he was after. Black’s involvement in the war often found him allied, or against, George Washington, Charles Cornwallis, Haytham Kenway, and the assassin known as ‘Connor’.
Note: At this point much is unknown about many periods in Jeremiah Black’s life, including whether he survived the American War of Independence. Abstergo hopes to fill in many of these years through animus technology and shed light on this mysterious figure in history.
