Background/Biography:
Joel was born into a Native American tribe, hence his nickname Dragonheart as well as his last name. At five, he lost his mother to slavers, as she had told him to run when they came to the village, burning it after they captured many of his people. He spent most of his life running from age five to thirteen. At thirteen, he had gotten a job to get money in order to buy a travel horse; a beautiful black animal he named Duskfire.
At fourteen, Joel heard about an old, retired man who was constantly getting harassed by Templar settlers. Joel heard how they had forced him to step down from his order in return for his life. After discovering where this old man lived, Joel rode Duskfire out to the house and spent all that year begging to be trained. At fifteen, the hermit finally agreed to take the boy on as an apprentice.
As his sixteenth birthday neared, Joel discovered a hidden basement filled with old assassin gear. Upon his request, the old assassin explained what had happened, explained the Creed and everything the assassins stood for. Upon completing his training at Seventeen, his mentor swore Joel into the Assassin Brotherhood.
However, upon their journey into town, Joel had discovered the man who had taken his mother, recognizing him by voice and scent. So enraged by the man, Joel rushed to the slave cart and burned it, freeing what slaves had been taken. The man recognized Joel as "the brat that got away". This concerned the old assassin and he taught Joel how to disappear; by removing wanted posters, bribing priests and killing witnesses. Joel caught on quickly.
Upon his eighteenth birthday was when tragedy struck. His mentor's home had been invaded and the old man had been murdered. This angered and grieved the young Assassin. Joel buried the old man near the house, vowing to never rest until he killed every last Templar. Up to now, he had succeeded in killing only a few Templars.
