Background/biography: Born in 1487 in Roma, Zefiro Grandinetti was raised by a modestly wealthy French tailor. At the age of 15 years, Zefiro witnessed a young woman beaten to death by the side of the street for stealing bread. Zefiro was horrified by his inability to prevent such violence, and was disgusted by his fellow bystanders' inaction. From that day onward, Zefiro swore never to allow innocent men and women suffer by the chaos of humanity. He left his guardian at 16 after an argument over the treatment of peasants. He then traveled to Venice in order to join a secret organization he had heard rumors of.
