Age: 23
Affiliation Assassins, although later in his life became detached from the creed and the Assassin ways due to greed and finding use with his "skills" in other areas. Eg; Contracts from those outside the order, mercenary for private armies or for the civil war
Appearance James is a fairly tall man for his age, and is a very muscularly defined man, due to his intense trainings when training for the order. James has a thin, angular face with short, parted dark-brown hair. Apart from his blue-green eyes and his small amount of stubble, his face is fairly average, except for a scar running just above and across his left eye, obtained when templars killed his father.
James wears coats and leather bracers, boots and vestments similar to that of Edward Kenway, although instead of with a blue, a black. His coat is heavily black, with things like a white hood, parts of his tailcoat etc. He also contains small accents of red to show his allegiance to the assassins
. A lot like this image (Check avatar, will add pic later in week), the explorers outfit on AC4, but with a more darker, black kind of leather vestments, bracers and boots and with less white on the front, hanging part of the coat.
This image is very similar to how James would be found, instead without the 2 guns on the chest, and also with a bow and quiver on his back. The quiver is built into his leather vestment so it doesn't shift around while he is free running.
Personality: James as a child was a very courageous and brave, yet shy boy. He never feared from a fight in his time at the rich colleges in England (born in England, sent to America). When he was in his teens he started to learn how to free run, along the tops of the English homes, and along his families huge garden trees. James' shyness helps him fit in with a crowd, and allows him to slip by without any notice of anyone, although secretly his eyes are fluttering under that white hood of his with the vision of an assassin.
Favourite Weapons: When his dad died, he was left with a huge sum of money. He put this money to good use with many custom built weapons;
- Hidden Blade | James' hidden blade may not be anything special, but it's his hidden blade and it has helped him through many battles and it has seen the blood of many corrupt people
- 2 English Scimitars | Similar to the pirate scimitars in AC4, James' scimitars are custom made to fit into his hand perfectly. They lend to his style of fighting, strength and overpowering the enemy, perfectly.
- Recurve Bow | James' bow is small and doesn't move about or hinder his movement when running and climbing. He has perfected the use of archery and hit a moving target from 300m away
- Custom flintlocks | Along with archery James is also proficient in the use of guns. He can pick up any rifle or his 2 custom pistols and hit anything; no matter the range or speed
- Throwing knives | These come in nice and handy during James' stealthy missions
- Blow pipe | Also helpful for stealth
Strengths:
- Strength | Ever since he was a child, James loved training himself and getting stronger. He would climb about on the rooftops increasing his strength as he climbed. He gained even more strength during his training as an Assassin. This strength would help him a lot when fighting and when climbing allowing himself to climb further and fight harder than most.
- Stealth | Even though James is big and strong, he can still move lightly and quietly. His casual demeanour allows him to slip into a crowd unnoticed, and his strength in climbing can help him come down on unsuspecting enemies.
- Proficiency in projectiles | James is highly trained in the use of guns and bows and can help take out targets before they even have a chance of using their swords
Weaknesses:
- Short Temper | James' short temper can lead to him killing those who are needed alive, and sometimes it can get him into trouble with the authorities
- Arrogance | James can sometimes underestimate his opponent and get cocky with him
- Endurance | Although James is physically great, he can't get his head around endurance. Although quick off the mark and still can last in a foot race longer than the average Joe, compared to his other assassins he just isn't good enough.
Background: James was born into a long line in a history of assassins, although of this he had no idea. His Father (used in AC4 sub-section, more in the link) was trained by his father in the creed, although he quickly became tired of that life, and made his way to the caribbean, for a new life. He quickly became involved in piracy and eventually became crew on the Jackdaw, with Edward Kenway, and Adewale. He loved the life of piracy, though when Kenway and Adewale became drawn to the assassins, he too came back to their life, and became involved with them. When his time was over in the West-indies he made his way back to England and set up his life their, marrying and eventually becoming a father to James.
Edward became interested in nobility and became friendly with the King at the time, meanwhile James knew nothing of his fathers life as an assassin. James was very wealthy and got whatever he pleased, due to his father's amassed riches in the caribbean. James got bored of this life though, and started to become interested in free-running, jumping between trees and running on top of the roofs around his area. This would help him with his strength later in his life. Around when James was 14 the King had died, without and heir and many nobles were claimants to the throne. One of them was Edward, and he was a favourite. The Templars, though, were eager to put their man into power so they hatched a plan to murder Andrew.
When they thought everyone was out of the house, they hatched their plan. Guards were set up in front of the house to hold off people who wanted to get inside, for instance James. One of their best Templar agents was set up on the roof to jump into Edwards office and commit the murder. Once the house was clear, they started the plan, although one thing was off; James was out and about free running on top of the houses. James started to get back to the house, when he noticed a blur about near his house, near the hatch. He thought nothing of it and started to climb down, but when he started to hear a commotion near his Fathers office, he started to hurry. He sprinted into the room to see papers and furniture strewn about the place, and in the middle of it all was his father, his eyes rolled into the back of his head and a sword piercing through his abdomen. Slowly the rage built up inside of him and James run into the Templar that had killed his father. The Templar, amused by this petty boy simply put up his hand and started to choke him holding him back. Meanwhile James scratched at this man's hand, but it was no use. He scratched and pulled until something clicked. There was a whoosh that James would hear for many years to come and the Templars hidden blade pierced his own hand that was holding back James. The Templar lost his balance as he realised what had happened, and walked backwards without even taking the sword out of James' father. James used his size to his advantage and rolled underneath him grabbing one of the knives out of his belt. He succumbed to his rage and started to cut him up, striking left and right until all that was left was barely recognisable as a man.
The guards at the front had gotten wary of the time that had gone and they went into the building to find their accomplice, only to find his lifeless body. James had allready gone, racing on the rooftops to the address his father had given him with his dying breath. Here James was told about the order, about his father and he was trained to be an assassin, he had nothing else left in his life. As a young man James was a brilliant assassin, fulfilling many contracts and jobs, but became sad with his city. Everywhere he went he remembered that was the ledge he had jumped running from his fathers death, there was where you and your father had a great time. He had slight PTSD and it only got worse with the death of his mother. The Templars had only wanted to kill his father, but due to their Templar casualty and finding out that this boy who had killed their best man, was still fighting against them they tracked down and killed his mother to gain some leverage against him. This was the final straw. Nothing was left of him here and he was eager to get away, and start up a new life. He requested a move to set up assassin bureaus in America. His request was accepted.
As he cast of towards this new land, with no knowledge of what lay before him, he thought of his destroyed life in England. Maybe he could start anew in this new land.
TL;DR Father assassin in west-indies. Liked piracy sailed with Kenway, became interested again in assassins. Sailed back to England became friends with king. Father murdered by templars when King died without and heir. Son, James killed Templar that murdered him and trained as an assassin. Mother died as revenge for loss of best Templar. Sailed to America to start new life and assassin bureaus there.
Jesus, that was a lot. I think for his father in AC4 I will make it all a LOT shorter.
