Dionysus Kalfas Empty
PostSubject: Dionysus Kalfas   Dionysus Kalfas EmptyTue Mar 13, 2018 7:54 am

Name : Dionysus Kalfas
Age : Early 20s
Affiliation : Centurion in the Sixth Ironclad Legion of the Imperial Roman Army

Personality:

Kalfas can be easily described as the sun in early spring. His laid-back persona and open-minded view give contrast to the stern and disciplined figures of other Legionnaires. Honest with his thoughts, he only wants to emphasize the positivities in life to his fellow comrades. Despite this seemingly childish and naïve behavior, Kalfas takes his duties to heart and is not afraid of taking someone’s life or losing his own life if it means protecting his nation and everyone that he cares about. During the heat of a battle, Kalfas’s true nature would often pour out in a brief manner. When this happens, he would drop the usual cheery tone in his voice and face the enemies at hand with dead and intense seriousness.

Appearance:

He appears to be a great warrior if judged only by his appearance, one who would be admired by many, young and old alike. He is a man with delicate features clad in heavy Legion armor. One noticable trait of his are his pair of golden eyes, one has described them as “burning like a thousand suns.” Kalfas also has a messy set of smooth blonde hair which length stops a few centimeters above his ears. But alas nobody is perfect. Underneath his radiant posture and presence, he hides a lot of scars, a reminder of how cruel war can be and of the many sacrifices of his fellow legionnaires who died in battle.

Strengths:

Kalfas posseses a great amount of willpower. Once he sets his mind on something, he will do it or die trying. He is also unknowingly very charismatic, able to influence people’s actions through his honest and uplifting words. As a Legionnaire, Kalfas is battle ready both in mind and body. He is resourceful, cunning and steadfast when facing opponents. Even when outnumbered, he would never be easy to pin down, nor would he run. In his own words, “I may be outnumbered, but you are outclassed.”

Weaknesses:

His pride would be the death of him. The amount of responsibility that he has to carry, the duty to serve and protect his nation has given him a resolute state of mind. As a warrior and a public figure he must set out to be the best that he can be, for if he wants to be remembered or cherished, he must surely live an epic life and die an epic death. Because of this, he often disregards his own personal safety. He just doesn’t know when to quit, it’s not in his vocabulary.

Background/Biography:

Kalfas was born from a low-class family in Rome. His father is a blacksmith who works near the Portus from early morning to late at night and his mother is a common fruit merchant. Ever since he was a kid, he always wanted to be part of the Legionnaires of Rome. Kalfas would catch a glimpse of them when he’s helping out his father in the workshop or his mother in the market. Their imposing figures, their amazing adventures and the influence they had on the people of Rome motivated him to someday become a part of their organization. Kalfas realized that in order to significantly help those he loves he first needed to attain the power and prestige to do it.

By the age of 16 Kalfas was finally recruited into the Legion. The Roman Army was looking for any abled body that they can get their hands on and since he was in the right age, he decided to join the fight, promising his parents that he will become a hero that they’ll be proud of someday. In the first four months, he had to endure the tiring and agravating marching exercises along with the usual gymnastics, battle formations and swimming. He completed the “military step” with ease, but as the exercise progresses into the “full pace” he barely could keep up. Completing 24 roman miles (about 35 km) in five summer hours while carrying a 20.5 kg weight for every single day was torture. But just like any routine, he eventually got used to it. Nothing could change his will to become someone of worth, not even the Gods of Olympus.

After conditioning, it was time for weapons training. Legionnaries were trained to use the wooden version of a gladii and scuta that are two times heavier than their metal counterparts. Like a man that’s completely in his element, Kalfas became accustomed to the weapons within a very short time, it was as if it’s just another extension of his body. He trained in the scorching heat, through the cold of winter and sometimes even skipping his meal if he had to. By the final two months of the year, he became unbeatable and even achieved a stalemate against one of the Primus Pilus, though he is completely aware that his senior was not giving it his all.

When the year ended, Kalfas was finally an official Legionnaire. He swore an oath of loyalty to the senate and was then given a diploma and sent off to fight for his living and the glory of Rome. Kalfas became a part of the Sixth Ironclad Legion, raised in Cisalpine by a man named Gaius Julius Caesar. He participated in all of the Legions’ campaign, from the Seige of Alesia to the Battle of Pharsalus before eventually following Caesar to settle the dispute in Egypt.  Kalfas took a liking to the Egyptians, there is something about their culture and history that fascinates him, it has a certain allure to him. Lest duty must come first and that is absolute. War is brewing and he must be loyal and steadfast as always, Fidelis Constans.
