Born in ireland, he was home schooled by his father, an affluent English Templar and landlord. His father taught him how to shoot, at a young age, and Joseph was a natural. He was trained like an assassin, by students of Haythem Kenway and Shay Cormac. When the kid turned 10, his father decided it was time he learned about the order.
Joseph was amazed. He wanted to become a member and make his father proud, so he trained harder. Until he was 13, and his father took him on a real mission to New York. While there, his father used the British navy to commondeer an island. Upon that island, a house and a port was built. Mr. Wiles drained his coin into the renovations and oversaw the building. Eventually it became a small base on its own. About 5 acres of land on the island.
During the mission, about 6 months later, Mr. Wiles was murdered by an assassin and looted for a book. Joseph was angered heavily. He inherited his father's assets and money, even the island, Royal Spade. He began taking his life more serious. He spent a year tracking down the assassins who killed his father. When they came onto him, they nearly killed him. He distracted them long enough to shoot them with his pistols. He took their hidden blades and continued taking up after his father's work.
