Meanwhile in the Lobby...

Essent rested her head on her bakery cart, bored and tired simultaneously. It was a slow day again so the cart is pretty much still stocked up to max capacity. She already had one person have a treat so far and now its just her. these poor pastries can't go to waste! Essent was becoming a bit hungry so she decided to sneak a treat out for herself to eat. Yum... A glazed doughnut. Ahhh yes, that's the spot.

Another day, another Coke, another technical babysitting...
Lana sighed as she walked through the main doors of Abstergo entertainment. The fact it was now 'entertainment' seemingly annoyed her. The work was serious; there was once a day when the Animus was more fun.
She followed the crowd for a little, before easily detaching herself from it and sneaking up on a drinks vending machine, putting the money in and picking up a frozen can of coca-cola.

Then it hit her.

That smell you always get. Was that the smell? Certainly smelt like it.
The smell you get walking past bakeries, that glorious smell of carefully made food, the sweet treats and gingerbread men. That made Lana think about home...
These thoughts were cut off when her bright blue eyes saw who was with the cart. No one informed her that she was there. No one told Lana she even existed anymore.
Walking over slowly, she said slowly...
"Subject 13?..."
Her words came with a surprised expression...well...as much as an expression you would get from her, anyway.

Her eyes looked up to find Lana eyeing her with surprise. It was common. After all, it's been like that since she's been hired. FINALLY something to DO! And someone to talk to, at least.

"That's me," she let out, if a bit softly. "But my name's Essent." There wasn't anything signifying her as an undercover Assassin. Nor was she equipped with a weapon. She was just there. Elbows on the cart, one hand holding her head and the other holding a half-eaten doughnut. Her headset's mic was up and her glasses slightly close to the tip of her nose. Why did she need the headset anyway? Well, if there's some sort of malfunction or she's out of stock or anything related, she has a way to communicate.

The sight of Essent made Lana confused...but it also took her back.

When Subject 13 (formally "Essent") was made a subject, Lana was merely a worker at the time. She didn't run the project, she didn't see any of the history they found nor did she know anything about the general goal of the subjects. What little she did know at the time was that her work was to make and fix the Animus when it went down..recharge it...sort corrupted data- all of the hard work.
Subject 16 was a tough cookie- that was when Lana went up in the world of Absergo and seemingly got more involved in the Templar business, but merely thinking back to Subject 13 made Lana feel...
Uneasy.

"It is a shock to see you here" Lana finally said, slowly and without emotion. "Most earlier subjects had...different means of ending their times with us. No one has ever came back...
..In a way, it's nice to see you again."
Her heart skipped a beat when she said that. Her? Lana? Being kind? Having 'nice' feelings? Well it was possible- she wasn't working yet. She is allowed to be happy in her own time!

All of this happened on Michael's computer, in his home of 298, on Oak's Way.
"Baah... Stupid thing... S'posed to work..." He shut off the computer, and walked out the door, tool box in hand. Today he felt wearing something diffrent - not like his clothes were much diffrent than each other. Today, instead of a black shirt with the Abstergo logo in top left, he wore a dark gray one with the logo in the Top left. He didn't like change so much.
Since Abstergo entertainement - he hated the new name - wasn't a long walk away, his decided to take the ten minute walk.

Upon entering the building and ducking to fit under, he walked calmy in the middle, trying to remember something. "What was it again... was it the elevator?" As he thought this, a stray spark flew from the back of it. "Guess so..." He walked into the elevator, and looked around to see what was wrong.

Essent shrugged and formed a small grin. Yeah, some subjects went insane and some subjects escaped. Heck, some subjects were released with ease. Reasons unknown and Essent likes it that way. It's one thing that she's working for Abstergo. The other thing is that she agrees with their ways of keeping the secret war a SECRET. Everyone who doesn't want to get involved won't have to worry.

"Well, if you can't handle being on the run for the rest of your life, you might as well go the safe route. Catering is actually better than running with your best friend Peter Paranoia." She giggled at her little quip before taking another bite out of her doughnut. After swallowing, she once more looked at Lana as if she was asking if she wanted anything.

"I....can see the logic in that."
Lana made a quick note in her mind about writing this down somewhere.
"Don't suppose you do Cornish Pastys?"

(bugger. Wifi at home is out- sent this from college. If I don't comment again for a while, I am sorry)

"I think there are some in here... Hold on."
Essent began to look in the cart's storage for said Cornish Pasty. Well, of course there is one. Plenty of them, to be clear. Not that many Europeans work at this HQ. Either way, she took out the one she grabbed and handed it over to Lana.

She took it with both hands rather gently with a calm smile.
"How much would that be? I never normally get food here."
Unlike most people, more so Abstergo workers, Lana has never needed a bag when going to work, or more or less, something to work with on her like a datapad or collection of memory sticks.
She merely had nothing on her. Just the pasty now. Weird.

"It's usually one to three bucks for visitors but since Abstergo is a financial god it's free for us employees. Fair enough, if I'd say so." Financial god, you say. Most of the money goes for research and game production. Quite the surprise that they would still have some profit left over to supply the catering business.

Putting the Abstergo Tablet away, along with the screwdriver, screws, and other tools, he poked his head out, and said towards Essent and Lana, "'Ey! El'vator is fixed, feel free to use it if ya wanna." He walked off near the wall, and pulled out a ragged, beaten brown paper bag. "Bah... Sat the toolbox on it again..." He walked outside, bag in hand, and sat on a nearby bench, where he continued eating a some what flattened turkey and bologna sandwich. A odd combination, but it is how Michael was. "The computer's never going to work... 'least I got the Templar ring still..." He thouht, glancing at a golden ring on his right middle finger. "As long as I can flip people off and show 'em some gold they'll never get, fine with me..." He thought afterwards, a small smirk on his face as he ate his sandwich.

"It's as if the company was born with the money, no?" Lana smirked and nodded in thanks before holding the pasty the way it was made to be held when the miners wives invented it all those years ago in Devon- by the thick, hard crust.
Upon hearing the voice of the man, she turned and nodded slowly. "Cheers~"

Catering. Why? A subject would never return to Abstergo after the alien experiments and technology that was never explained to them. A human fears the unknown. Why would someone rush back into the mists? For what purpose is Subject 13 here?...
...It is none of my concern. Curious. Curiosity. I must not ask.

"Thank you for this" she said with a small smile. "If ever should you seek me, I shall be in my office- you cannot miss it, the big fat one over-viewing the Animus laboratory and Animus primary stations. Floor 7. I control the animus servers now."
She said this in a friendly way- not assuming she'd waltz to the office just to give her pasty's, but rather, for a conversation one day if she would ever get bored.
Lana certainly, indeed, does get bored.
"I must get to work...I will see you again soon?"

Essent nodded and closed the cart's storage door, a warm smile on her face. "Mmmhm. I hope you have a good day." It was true that she didn't really understand the technology behind the Animus but it was better to run with it. Yes, she still has questions but that was okay. Not every question can be answered. Not everyone needs to know everything. Trying to might get someone killed someday.

If Lana lived by that rule, dear Essention, there would be no Lana in existence.
"Farewell for now~" Lana smiled and walked to the newly fixed elevator. Thank goodness for the repairman....whom....she doesn't know.
She walked swiftly into the elevator, holding the pasty in one hand and then realizing the thing doesn't have any bloody buttons. She hated this. Sighing, Lana took out a rather fairly slim phone, perhaps an older model then what there normally is in modern day...still touch-screen though- and clicked a button, making the wifi symbol turn green and the elevator began to go up and disappeared from the lobby.
Oh the loves of technology.
