PostSubject: Death Party   Death Party EmptyTue Apr 24, 2018 8:48 am

At the party in the big mansion, the dances started. The owner of the house - a politician - laughed in the company of his friends, sipping wine. Nick walked past him. But he was not the target, at least not Nick. The target was an Assasin. The murderer in the hood was to poison a man, who was having fun beside him carelessly. Nick looked at the crowd.

Dance to the music that only you can hear.
Dance to the sound, do you have cold feet?
Left right, back and forth.
A spin, a bow, a tip tap toe.
The life of the party takes its first steps.
While the man in black awaits for its death.

The sky was pitch black, but Hargreeves' mind was full of light. To an outside observer, this would mean the he had found God, perhaps, or someone in a state of ecstasy. In this case, the outside observer would be wrong. A thousand stars, spinning in the void. A hundred people, dancing to the notes. Cold. Cold. Cold, so very cold. His mind was racing all over the place, a radio signal going from one tower to another. Zip zap.

Need to relocate

As his train of thought stabilized, so did his breathing. The blood pumping in his veins had fought off the blistering cold (at least for now) and he could think straight again. Hargreeves looked around. He was in an unfamiliar place, lit by vintage gaslamps and surrounded by conifers. The large mansion in the middle was of blackened bricks, decorated with big tinted windows in white frames. The snow storm had begun to thicken. Layers upon layers of snowflakes were beginning to distort the view.

Hargreeves jumped down from his vantage point from one of the trees, landing softly, without a sound, a feather hitting the ground. His black coat was now smothered in snow. From afar, it looked kinda like an abstract painting. Random paint splatter from the stroke of a brush forming unrecognizable patterns. He moved slowly from the edge of the mansion's front yard, dragging his feet through the knee-deep snow, getting closer and closer to the front door.

The guards at the door looked at him, squinting from behind their rayban aviators. What was once a small dot in a white landscape had taken form into an odd looking figure. Slender, slightly flailing, blank eyes. "Excuse me, sir. Can you please show me your invitation?" One of the guards politely asked him. Hargreeves stayed silent, his motion the same. Inch by inch he was getting closer, leaving behind a hollow trail that's slowly being refilled by the falling snow. This silence was unnerving to them. The guards hands were now rested on their holsters, their survivor instincts kicking into gear. After a forced cough, the other guard proceeded to ask again. This time it wasn't just silence that came to answer him, but a wide sinister grin as well.

A static eruption followed by the malfunctioning of nearby electronics

Eye sockets plucked out of place

Bzzt

Dangling, a newton's craddle

Bzzt

A knife to the throat right after

Bzzt

One dead

As his friend slumped down to the ground, lifeless. The other guard unholstered his gun, his fingers shaking from sheer terror. For a man with his experience and career, death and blood should be normal, something that he should have gotten used to. But there was something about Hargreeves that unsettled him. The wide nightmarish smile, the empty eyes, the manic and swift movements of his attacks. It was not that of a normal human, and perhaps he was not.

A millisecond before the guard could pull the trigger, Hargreeves had managed to grab his head and smash it onto the wall. Smearing the black brick with a splash of crimson red that slid downwards to the pavement below. His right hand was a complete mess now. Bits of fractured skull and smushed brains got stuck to his white glove, the stain would be hard to clean up when it dries. But that was a problem that he could think about later, he had lost control there for a moment. The faint sound of music can be heard from outside of the front door. Since the security cameras were already deactivated by the small range EMP he used before killing the first guard, it was now safe for him to go inside.

"Leave me alone, you cannot stop me" whispered Nick, while leaving the group of women.

Yes, yes, yes. Hargreeves can feel the blood pumping throughout his body. He was not the best of dancers, but the act of it was a good warm up. The song was about three minutes long, just enough time for someone to drink from the tampered beverage on the bar. As expected, a woman was now heading there. Judging by her appearance, she was probably in her early 20s, with short black hair and hazel eyes. She reached out for one of the glass cups neatly aligned next to the bowl, then poured the drink into it before gulping the whole thing down.

Tik tok, the clock was ticking. Hargreeves can feel his heartbeat following the rhythm of it, every second perfectly synchronized. He closed his eyes and began to gracefully sway across the dance floor. Waiting for the moment when the toxin would take its effect. Not long after, the hectic crowd surrounding the party stood silent. Their attention focused on the woman at the bar. She was laying down on the floor, screaming unintelligibly, eyes wide with paranoia.

A few people came to her aid, trying their best to calm the woman down. It was a futile attempt. She was already too far out of her mind. In the midst of this spectacle, Hargreeves used the opportunity to go the upper levels where the HVAC system of the mansion was located. He wanted to spread the fear gas using the air vents that goes as far as the hall below to the maids chamber way out in the back. Three guards were stationed there. How unfortunate.

Hargreeves rushed at them with inhuman speed, jumping inches away from them to gain momentum as he kicked the nearest guard in the head. After the impact, he crouched down to the next guard's waist and knocked his legs down with a sweep of a leg. Midway to his fall he immediately added weight on the man's neck using his elbow, breaking it as it hit the ground with no way of rebounding. Next, he lunged at the last guard and hit him with all his might right in the solar plexus. Firing the nerves up, forcing the man's organs to not function properly. Trembling from the previous blow, the man was in no position to defend himself. Therefore, Hargreeves took out his switchblade from his coat pocket and stabbed the man in the neck. This was all done in exactly 6 seconds.

"Prometheus, you're up."

Hargreeves briskly said as he pressed the button on his comm device.

"Will do mate. Just give me second."

A voice replied to him and he can hear the faded sound of someone typing on a keyboard going through the mic from the other side. Not long after that, the power shuts down throughout the mansion. Everything was now pitch black. Since the heater was off, cold was starting to creep in as well. "Much obliged." Hargreeves thanked the man from the other side of the comm device. It made a 'beep' sound afterwards, meaning that the other person had gone offline.

"Let the trial begin." Hargreeves put on his Spring-Heeled Jack mask and turned on the night vision. He entered the room where the HVAC system was located and began to plant the fear gas. If things go according to plan, then this party would turn into a massacre.

Hargreeves told the man, his eyes still focused on the contraption he was tinkering with in front of him. He only needed a few more seconds before he could finish planting the fear gas. Red cable to the blue cable, blue cable to the green, and the green back to the red. For a brief moment, Hargreeves ignored the man who was aiming a gun at him. He realized that this man was filled with doubt, therefore he was hesitant to pull the trigger immediately. When the last cable had been plugged, an analog timer appeared on the screen of the contraption. Blinking lights came on in mesmerizing colors, indicating that it was active and ready to be used.

Shadows danced to the colorful lights coming from of the gas bomb. It gave glimmers of Hargreeves appearance to the onlooker, it was the terrifying image of Spring-Heeled Jack. He pressed a small red button on the bomb and it began to beep in tune with the timer as it counted down from three minutes. In that short amount of time, nobody was going to be able to stop him.

"You are mistaken if you think I am an ally to you."

Hargreeves coldly said to him.

"I am only loyal to the Spring-Heeled Jacks. The Creed and the Order use nothing but a long outdated system that does nothing significant for the salvation of humanity."

He slowly stood up, back still turned from his opponent's face. There was an ominous vibe around him, it was thick and unnerving. Every inch of the room was getting colder, it felt like being in a graveyard. Well, it was going to be just that in a few minutes.

"FEAR IS THE ANSWER. To truly be free, we must erase fear. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? It is the only way."

A muffled maniacal laugh echoed from behind the mask. He turned himself around and went closer to the man, his laugh getting louder as he did. Once he was close enough, he pulled the barrel of the man's gun towards his head. The tip slightly touching the mask that he was wearing. Even in this situation, Hargreeves did not shiver for even a second. He looked the man in the eyes through his red goggles and dared him to shoot.

"If you think I'm wrong, then shoot me. Come on, shoot me, shoot me, shoot me!"

With a clever sleight of hand, Hargreeves had already unholstered his gun from his belt. The man could not have seen his movement as the room they were in was too dark. From his waist, he aimed the gun right at the man's knees. It was a matter of timing now, who was going to pull the trigger first? As the tension builds, the timer kept ticking. It was now at 02:14.

For a moment, Nick was looking at the man, whose face was hidden behind the mask.
"What are you?"
He heard beeping from the timer bomb. He was right: this man wanted to make everyone go crazy. It was not Assasin, it was not even a man. It was a psychic monster.
"Nick, what are you waiting for? Move, or you'll end as that woman!" The voice of his ancestor rushed him. Nick remembered that he had one more weapon. He quickly took out the knife and swung it on the mask of the opponent, jumping away at the same time. He aimed at the mask because he guessed that it had gas protection.

PostSubject: Re: Death Party   Death Party EmptyFri May 04, 2018 3:19 pm

The knife only scratched the edges of his mask as Hargreeves managed to instinctively back away at the last second. A small thin line now runs across the space between his eyes, somehow it had made him look more intimidating than before. He traced his fingers slowly along the mark, imagining the shape of the wound if it had hit his flesh instead. It was not too deep, but it would definitely sting a bit.

Seeing his opponent's reluctance to use his gun, Hargreeves knew that he had the advantage. Doubt was eating away at the man's mind, filling it with questions that he did not have the answer to. If it were him behind the trigger, Hargreeves would have shot the man right then and there. But that was not the case, was it? Fear really was a chain that held people back. Thinking couldn't properly be done when you're trying your best to hold on to dear life. That's why people need to embrace the threat, embrace the darkness.

Hargreeves covered himself with his cloak, submerging himself into the shadows around him. He then activated the night vision mode on his goggles and silently move around the room. Like a hunter toying with his prey, he laughed on, the sound echoing as if they were in a cave. One second, it sounded like he was laughing behind the man. Another second, it sounded like he was in the very far corner of the room. This was an old trick commonly used by the Spring-Heeled Jacks, a way to cause spatial disorientation and mild paranoia to their enemies.

The truth was, Hargreeves had put tiny speakers around the room when he was lurking in the shadows. It could relay sounds that were recorded through his mask and loop them until a voice command from the user stops them. Prometheus always provided him with all sorts of fancy gadgets. The man may be annoying, but he was indispensable. The timer was now at 01:28, time moves really fast when you're enjoying yourself.

When it seemed like the man was disoriented, Hargreeves aimed his gun once again. He steadied his sights and focused on two points: the leg and the dominant hand. Keeping still, he pulled the trigger twice in quick succession. He gave away his position knowing that if one of them hits, he will have the upper hand in a close quarter combat. Screams can be heard from outside the room, the sound of the firing gun had caused the crowd below to panic. Perfect.

"You should've shot me when you had the chance. Now only death awaits you."

His voice resonated throughout the tiny speakers spread around the room, giving the illusion that there were many of him. And perhaps there were.

He did not lose consciousness, only thanks to the ticking gas bomb. He looked at her reproachfully, as if she had just woken him from sleep. Suddenly he realized something. He picked up the gun that landed next to him. He aimed at the part of the bomb that seemed to him the most important.

The bullet hit the gas bomb directly in it's main core, deactivating the timer and thus stopping the explosion in the process. It was a precise shot. Despite the young appearance of his opponent, it would seem that he had a decent amount of experience with firearms. To be able to aim in total darkness while enduring the pain coming from his bullet wound meant that he was a worthy adversary.

"You seem to be in quite a predicament there Jack 1."

A voice spoke out from his comm device, it was Prometheus.

"The bomb has been deactivated. It would seem that my opponent is more competent than he looks, I want you to give me his profile. He is no ordinary man."

Hargreeves stayed put in the shadows. He pushed a button right at the corner of his right eyes and began to scan the man laying on the ground. A green horizontal line moved vertically over and over again in his mask's screen until the word 'SCAN COMPLETED' appeared. The data was then sent to Prometheus via a wireless connection and now he just had to wait for him to report back.

Under the cover of darkness, Hargreeves began to move. He crawled slowly along the floor to minimize his presence, a spider getting closer to its prey. Once he was close enough, he leaned his head close to the man's. Sniffing him passionately from behind the mask, making it obvious that he was enjoying what he was doing. He then took hold of the gun that destroyed his bomb with his right hand and ran his fingers through the man's hair with his left. The more uncomfortable it made his enemy feel, the better.

"Do you think you've won just because you managed to destroy that bomb?"

He asked him with a cold voice. If the devil were to speak, it would sound just about the same.

"There are many ways to incite fear on those poor souls below. Many many ways..."

The 's' at the end of his sentence held on like a snake that was hissing.

"I wanted to use the gas because it was much more fun to do so. Seeing each and every one of them slowly losing their minds and began to slaughter each other, now that's a party that I would like to be invited to. But sadly, that won't happen. All thanks to you."

Hargreeves poked the man's head continuously, giving it more pressure each time.

"Now I have to do the dirty work myself. Now I need to get more blood on my hands. Remember, their lives are on you now. You shouldn't have gotten involved."

And with that he walked away and jumped to the first floor, his mask producing flames from its mouthpiece. The crowd ran in terror, they ran blindly, hitting and stepping over each other as they tried to navigate the murky room. Hargreeves pulled out his gun as he landed in the middle of the dance floor.

"NOW LET THE REAL PARTY START!"

"I will also tell you what I see: I am in a dark room, shot in the foot, and outside someone murders innocent people, so if you'll let me, I will leave this room."

PostSubject: Re: Death Party   Death Party EmptyWed May 16, 2018 5:16 am

Hargreeves felt a sharp pain coming from the back of his right shoulder. Thankfully, it did not hit any vital organs or joints. His body was still able to function properly, just enough to kill more people. He clenched his fist and grind his teeth together, enduring the knife wound as best as he can. There was a loud noise deep within the chamber of his mind. It was the sound of rattling chains and senseless screaming. He could barely focus on it, but it was clear who the source was. Jack, his demonic counterpart.

The party guests ran frantically around the house, searching for a hiding place. In this storm, there were no exits. If any of them were to go out and risk themselves, they would surely die. At least here, if they hid well enough, they might have a chance to live. Hargreeves pulled the knife out of his right shoulder hastily, blood spurted out of the entry wound like molten cake. He then threw the knife at one of the people nearby, hitting his head perfectly in the center between the eyes, making it an instant kill.

"THAT'S ON YOU!"

He pointed at the man upstairs.

"AND MANY MORE TO COME."

His voice was loud, he was becoming too confident. Though his main arm (right arm) was injured, he was still able to shoot well enough. One by one he started shooting down the people that met his gaze. One, two, three, four, five, stopping only when he needed to reload. Hargreeves then began burning the bar shelf nearby using the flamethrower device on his mask, lighting up the place in a fiery ember. Everything was becoming more chaotic than before. So exhilarating, so much fun. Fifteen people were dead now, including the guards. He needed more.

"Well at least it's a bit warmer now."
