| Bryan had used Darcey's gunshot to cover up his own and now had three iguanas slung over his shoulder, their tails held in one hand while a pistol hung at his side in the other. He'd take them on board and have the men clean them before taking what they needed, which were their hides and the meat for trade. | |

| "I met an Assassin once. She had a pet crocodile. Woman would kill you if she saw you hurt a reptile." Darcey continued to drag off her deer before a monkey jumped onto her. She panicked for a moment before realising that it was a young monkey that meant no harm. She allowed the monkey to sit by her, and looked over to Bryan. "May I keep..." Darcey paused, and lifted the monkey's tail to examine its genitals before she continued, "him. May I keep him?" | |

| Bryan made a face at the monkey for a moment before he shifted the weight of the iguanas over his shoulder. "I'm not sure," he said slowly for a moment. "Monkeys are mischievous little devils." He didn't sound so sure if he wanted to allow one onboard the ship. "Maybe if he was kept somewhere until you properly trained the thing...that is if he even wants to remain with you. Most animals like their freedom." | |

| Darcey tried to get the monkey off of her, but it refused. She let out a loud sigh as the monkey began to pick at her hair, looking for something. "Seems like the bastard is pretty happy. If he causes any trouble, we could always eat him" Darcey said with a slight chuckle as she glared at the monkey. "These little guys are actually quite useful." | |

| "Useful how?" Bryan questioned, dropping the lizards onto the ground to rest his aching shoulder. From what he'd seen of monkeys, they'd steal for people, but to him that didn't seem at all useful. Useful for thieves, yes, but for Pirates? | |

| "Well, if you train them properly, they can sneak into a enemy location, and steal plans. Plus the little guys like throwing shit, literally and figuratively" Darcey said with a laugh as the monkey climbed down from her head, and hung from her belt. "They can also check food and drink for poison. But really, they have a way of entertaining the crew during a slow day."

| "Well," Bryan said slowly, definitely thinking about this carefully. "As long as you properly train the thing, I suppose it's okay." He said with a small dip of his head. "He'll need a proper name, too." | |

| "Well, I was thinking of calling him Jack. You know, like that useless perpetual drunk, Jack Rackham?" The monkey chattered excitedly like a small child. A thought crossed Darcey's mind. "Captain, where will I keep the little beast?" | |

| "He could stay in the storage bay or in the cells. It depends on how much damage he can do to the supply crates below deck." Bryan answered as the sun shone down upon the beach, revealing just how much damage the storm had caused. | |

| Darcey was just about to say something when the monkey bit her. "Little bastard" Darcey shouted as she shook the monkey off her back. She heard the screeches of other monkeys around them, and swallowed hard. "Shit! Run!" Darcey grabbed the deer, and raced back to the ship. | |

| Bryan sprang up and grabbed the iguanas before he followed after Darcey, climbing up the ladder to the ship with a laugh. On deck, he dropped his burden and rolled onto his back to stare up at the sky while a couple of the men began to drag the iguanas off to clean and prepare them. | |

| Darcey raced onto the ship, and collapsed under the weight of the deer. She kicked the deer off of her, and lay there gasping for air. "Little bastards. Lesson learnt: never trust a monkey" Darcey said with a growl. | |

| Bryan gave a laugh and placed a hand over his stomach while his head turned to stare at her. "I could have told you that," he said teasingly. "A monkey once stole Crowley's pocket watch." | |

| "It would have been nice if you had mentioned how untrustworthy the little bastards were before we got attacked" Darcey said with a laugh. She looked down at the bite mark, and let out a deep growl. It hurt like hell. | |

| "Go to Malcolm for something for that wound," Bryan instructed with a laugh. "Not only is the man a great cook, but he also knows which herbs will help with bites or wounds or anything." | |

| "Thank you, captain" Darcey said with a sigh before she dragged the deer off to the galley.
"Malcolm, I need your help. I was bitten by a bloody monkey. I brought you a deer, all I need is the pelt." | |

| "Of course. Let's see here...Ah! Here. Just grind these leaves up and make sure the juices get into that wound. It'll clear it out and prevent infections and these berries should help take the sting out of it." Malcolm scooted the herbs he'd mentioned across the table and looked at the deer before he gave a laugh. "The boys will be glad for something not made from fish for a change. What do you think? Venison stew or cooked venison chops?" | |

| "I'm thinking venison chops with potato wedges on the side" Darcey said before she treated the bite as per Malcolm's instructions. The stinging seemed to subside almost immediately. | |

| "Very good! I'm sure the men will enjoy it." Malcolm said happily, clapping his hands together before he set about carefully removing the deer's pelt from its body before he flattened it out on a wire to dry off properly before he set about portioning out the meet. He nodded to a second cleaver wedged into the table's corner. "Feel free to help out, lass. I could use the extra pair of hands for this one. Just make sure ta use that basion there to wash your hands off in." | |

| "Sure thing, Malcolm" Darcey said with a sigh before she went off to wash her hands, and began to help him with the deer. | |

| "Were you and the Captain able to get supplies enough for the ship?" asked the burly looking man as he sectioned off another bit of meat, making certain there was no flesh or bones in it before tossing the meat onto a flat board for seasoning. "He was hoping to have repaired her a bit before we shoved off for the next port." | |

| "Not really. We got attacked by a bunch of damned monkeys before we could gather supplies" Darcey said with a sigh. She wasn't entirely proud of what had happened.

| Malcolm couldn't help but laugh, the cleaver he'd held in a hand slamming home into another section of the deer sprawled on the table before them. "Monkeys," he spat, wiping the back of his hand against his brow. "Never trust the damned beasties. They'd rather steal ya blind than be your friend." | |

| "Unfortunately, I learnt that the hard way" Darcey said with a laugh before she separated the deer's flesh from the meat, and set it aside for her gloves. | |

| Malcolm gave a soft chuckle and looked over at the young woman's bite. "At least it didn't draw blood," he commented with a shrug, preparing the rest of the deer meat to be stored for either food or trade, whichever the Captain decided. "Once knew someone who got bit by a monkey and the little beastie drew blood from him. It wasn't pretty, let me tell you." He chuckled and shook his head, finishing his work with the remainder of the meat before he went about seasoning the venison he'd fry up. | |
