PostSubject: Twisted Fate(closed)   Twisted Fate(closed) EmptyMon Jan 25, 2016 10:34 pm

The night was dark, darker than any other. The moon was new, hidden behind a wall of shadow. Most of Sydney, Australia was asleep; the perfect time for an assassination. Movement flickered along the rooftops of the city. A shadow dark against the night sky sprang into the air, landing into a silent roll on the next roof though his eyes never left the street below him. He'd been tracking his target since early that morning and the trail had led him to the docks, the waves of the ocean crashing against the shore.

Shadows moved at the corner of one of the last buildings lining the road that led down to the docks. The young Assassin jumped down onto another roof where he immediately dropped to his stomach, his eyes peering over the edge of the roof. He recognized the subtle armor of the Templars immediately, even in the dark. This was his man. He was just about ready to rise when the shadows warped at the docks and a man wearing a dark cloak peeled away from the shadows.

Frowning, the Assassin remained where he was for the moment, watching as the cloaked man approached the Templar. Wha's goin' on? He thought to himself, rising to a kneel in preparation to get closer. He couldn't hear what they were saying from here and that made him uneasy. Slowly, quietly, the Assassin moved from the roof, edging closer across the buildings while his eyes remained on the two.

"....the item?"
Item? Wha' item? The Assassin edged himself out onto a rather thin piece of wire that bridged the gap between the buildings on opposite sides of the road and there he remained, thankful for the lack of street lamps in the center of the road.
"I's righ' here," the shady looking man in the cloak pulled out something that looked like a box. "Did you brin' the cash?"

"Don't let the exchange happen," the young Assassin moved quickly, his feet stepping as lightly as possible across the wire as he closed the gap between himself and the Templar. He got a few more feet closer to the man and flicked his wrist, the familiar schklink of the hidden blade sliding out of its scabbard ringing in his ears. Ahead of him he could feel the movement of another. He could see as plain as day the outline of an Assassin and his eyes followed the Assassin as he leapt from the wire onto the Templar.

Without thinking things through, the Assassin followed, his feet leaving the wire as it trembled behind him. The momentum sent him crashing into the Templar, money flying from his grasp as the two toppled to the street below. Before the Templar's head could strike the concrete, the Assassin's blade slipped into the weak spot of the armor between the neck and shoulder. By the time the Templar struck the street, he was dead and the shady character was fleeing, the box crashing to the street with a thud.

The Assassin straightened up, breathing out a sigh of relief at his safe landing before he swiped his hands along his uniform. "Could have warned me before you jumped," he stated aloud, his boots silent upon the street as he made his way over to the box.
"There was no time for a warning," came the answer as the Assassin halted in front of the box, his eyes peering down at it with a curious light.
"Wha's inside i', I wonder?"
"The contents doesn't matter. What matters is that you get that to the Assassins immediately."
"You're quite bossy," he stated with a roll of his eyes, his hand reaching down to the box.

Mara, also known as Dake, was walking on a roof, hiding under her hood, when she heard a noise that made her turn around.

It had been a few weeks now that she had been sent to Sydney for another mission. The members of her Guild weren’t ready to send in other countries than Occidentalised ones for her missions. There was no way they could send her in a dangerous country alone. It wasn’t possible to send her with someone since the accident with her brother. But it just made sense that they weren’t going to send a 16 years old girl in the middle of India or Arabia. Still, Sydney was a dangerous place to be alone, but weren’t every places?

She had been given a few weapons she knew she wasn’t going to use. Attached to her leather boot was a hand gun she knew to be useless for her. She was counting on her whole armor. Far from the light and discrete uniform Assassins often had, she was literally wearing a plated outfit, giving her the looks of a light knight. Her face, half covered with a scarf, was making her clear blue eyes pop out. She sure was wearing dark colors, but on top of it, many Celtic-like details were drawn with lighter grey, making a clear distinction with the rest of her outfit. And on her back was attached a fitting bow. Heavy at first look, it actually was light enough for her to run with. A quiver was also attached to her back, where she could put her multiple arrows. It was kind of strange to see an Assassin with such a heavy armor on their shoulders, but that she was up to.

Staying on top of her rooftop, Mara kept still before she hid a little, so she could see what was going on down. There was two men, talking about… she couldn’t hear. But one of those guys clearly was a Templar. The other one was trading with him. She slowly took an arrow out of her quiver and putted it on her bow’s thread, aiming for the Templar man. With no sound, she took the arrow closer to her face and stayed still. At the moment she was about to drop the arrow, some shadow jumped on both man. Mara gasped in surprise and quickly took back her arrow, trying to make sure she wouldn’t hurt the new one. The other man went running on the opposite direction from her. Dake frowned and looked back at the guy, who apparently was talking with himself. She kept still before she slowly rose up and waited for him to go for the box. Then, she jumped down the building she was on and dropped right in the street below. Mara started walking at him. He still was talking alone. But his outfit was telling her he was an Assassin too. She couldn’t just attack him. She stopped right behind his form, showing her empty hands just in case he would be scared and turn to her. She looked at the box too before she looked up at him.

“Do not worry. We are in the same side”

And, with a head gesture:

“Are you talking to that box? Because it is not going to answer you”

Benjamin whirled around the second he heard the female voice, box in hand while the fingers of his other hand twitched near the handle of the pistol strapped to his leg, well hidden behind the fold of his long garment. On either side of him he could feel the other two Assassins, their muscles tensed as were his own but he made no move to grab the gun. Instead of moving, he simply lifted his head and beheld her with his green eyes. "I'm no' talkin' ta the box," he said simply, doing his best to keep the irritation from his voice.
"Who is this stranger?"

Benjamin jerked his head toward the stranger while his free hand swept up to touch the box he'd picked up. "You're no' from here, are ya? I'd know if ya were. You'd sound like an Aussie. But you don', so tha' leaves me ta believe tha' your from ou' o' country."
"Benjamin, you should get that box to the Bureau at once!" Benjamin looked behind him for a moment with a look that was obviously unamused though he said nothing. Instead, he turned back to Mara and extended a hand with a small nod of his head.
"I'm Benjamin Becke'."

Mara looked at him for a moment before she softly sighed. He hadn’t been scared enough for him to hurt her. She lightly smiled under her mask and lend her hand for him to shake it. The one in front of her had not been fooled: she was American, not Australian, or an Aussie, as he was telling her. She came from Florida and had been sent to Australia for a few days so she could keep the Templar ratio low. At least, as low as it was possible for her to maintain… She had been taught there was active Guilds in Australian, but never thought she would encounter one of its Assassins on her first days of work.

“I am not from here, you are right. My accent betrayed me, apparently”

His accent sure was pleasant to the ear. It had something really catchy and friendly, even if she didn’t knew the one in front of her. She took off her mask after a moment, just so she could look a bit familiar too. He was, so why couldn’t she be, at least a little?

“Mara Henderson. People call me Dake”

She rose a little after a moment, taking her hands close to her, but far enough for him to see that she wasn’t taking any hidden weapon behind her back or whatever. Her eyes went from his gaze to his outfit. It was way more, as she could say, accurate than hers. Light and easily mistaken as civilian clothing. Mara said no words before she looked at the box Benjamin had in hands. She frowned a little as she looked back at him.

“Who were those men?”

Benjamin shifted the box between his hands for a moment, his eyes dropping from Mara to the object for a brief moment before he answered, speaking over the voice of Altaïr at his back. "Templar I've been trackin' for two days and a black marke' merchan'," he answered cooly. "Though I'll admi', I never ran into a black marke' merchan' before. The Templars here seem ta ge' a good deal of stuff from the black marke', accordin' ta my Master. We're tryin' to uncover who se's them up with the stuff, bu' haven' uncovered any leads qui'e ye', which is qui'e unsettlin'."

Benjamin shook his head for a moment before he shifted the box again and turned to his back again. "I'll ge' i' ta the Den, don' worry." He muttered with a small nod before he turned back to Mara. "Wha' brings you ta the Outback? Never run into an American before, le' alone one tha's an Assassin."

Mara raised eyebrows when he started explaining to her who were those men. So they actually were his prey. She scratched her arm a little before she nodded. It made sense, at least to her. Again, she looked at the box. He was going to bring it back to the Den, which was a good thing. She had no idea what was in the box, but it surely wasn’t nothing. Again, Dake nodded before she looked up at him. What was she doing there? She pressed a hand on her chest, looking serious, before she looked down.

“I’m often sent to those kind of missions. I’m from Florida, but I’m always sent outside home. I lend help to Assassins and their missions all around the world” and, with a look back to the corpse behind her: “But it looks like you don’t need my help. Even then, I need to stay here until they bring me back. If there’s anything I can do to help you, I will do so”

She bowed a little, hand still on her chest. “At your service”

Benjamin couldn't help but chuckle and shifted the box again in his hands before it settled in his left. "Well," he said, turning toward one of the walls. "If you'll follow me, I can take ya ta my HQ." He waved her after him with his free hand and began to scale the wall, shifting the box between hands as he climbed before resting at the top on the roof, where he slipped the box into a holster somewhere on his person, possibly inside his outfit's flaps before he moved along the wire that was strung between roofs precariously before coming to rest calmly on the other side. Little did she know that he was following Ezio, one who had crossed precariously between roofs on two ropes strung across the street.

"This way, lass!" He called after her before he continued to move, the two Ancient Assassins on either side of him.
"You shouldn't be so ready to trust her, Benjamin." Altaïr warned, his voice soft. "We know nothing of her."
"We know she's an Assassin," Benjamin muttered to himself with a roll of his eyes as he sprang a gap in the rooftops. "Tha's good enough for me and i'll be good enough for the Master."
"Altaïr has un punto, Benjamin. Be careful."
"You worry too much, Ezio." Stated the Australian with a shake of his head and he continued to lead her toward his HQ, where the Master would welcome her to Australia and where he would turn in the box.

She followed him with no word, putting her hood back. Benjamin was moving just like if he already knew every move he was about to make, every single step seemed to be more calculated than hers, which she found surprising. After all, she had been training since forever... She started following him. Her armor wasn't blocking her movements in any ways. Dake seemed totally used to it.

Trying to follow him, she found herself even more surprise to see him jump and run like she never saw one doing. She even felt a little bit envious for a few seconds. They likely were the same age, and even then, he seemed to have more experience, more lightness. She ran and reached him, following him. At least, he was kind enough to take her to his Den, where she could lend a hand to more Assassins. That was her mission: helping those who needed help. If no one needed help, she would stick to this one, Benjamin. He seemed so talented...

She couldn't hear him, so she just followed him with no word. She was light and quick, but her armor could be heard all around. She was a parkour girl, but apparently, hiding in the dark while running wasn't her cup of tea.

The sky seemed to lighten just a tad bit by the time Benjamin landed in a roll at the front of his HQ, the place where he'd been trained. He uncurled from the kneel and stared up at the large building. The building was huge and the smell of pool water was coming from around back and from inside. Benjamin looked behind him at Mara and waved her forward. "Come on, ma'e!" He called with a grin and headed inside, the automatic doors sliding open once he got close.

Dake kept following him until he stopped in front of a sumptuous Inn. She stopped for a moment and kept there. There was the smell of pool water coming to her. She looked around just to be sure she was at the good place before Benjamin told her to follow him, what she did after a moment. She pretended not to be looking around with a surprised look, even if she was dying to do so. Mara looked up at little just so she could see better and turned to Benjamin, crossing her arms on her chest. Nice Den, she wanted to say, but kept silent, in fear to sound sarcastic, even if she wasn’t at all.

Benjamin grinned over at Mara with a twinkle in his eyes before he jerked his head and extended his arms to encompass the entire HQ. "Feel free to explore while I turn in this box ta the Master," he said simply, turning down a hallway that no doubt led to their Master's room.

Mara stayed like that for a long moment before she scratched the back of her head, hand on her hip. Benjamin was kind of heartwarming. And, bonus point, he seemed to know everything about the place, just like if he owned everything that she could see. From how he moved around to how he fought. She started walking around with no words, trying to avoid eye contact while waiting for him to come back.

When Benjamin entered the Master's quarters, he spoke a few words before he was dismissed immediately upon handing the box over. "He might know more about that box,"
"He migh'. Bu' then he migh' no'."
"He was quick to dismiss you, if he didn't know what it was."
"He has his reasons for dismissin' me, Altaïr. He'll probably send Lucien ou' on a mission ta discover wha' tha' box is." He definitely walked as though he wasn't even from this time. He had a sense of duty about him, even now as he walked the halls of the Hotel.

Mara was now outside at the back of the Inn, looking around. It was pretty impressing to see such a beautiful location being the Den of the Assassins there. She kept hers hands behind her back before she scratched the back of her head. Was she going to stay longer than during most of her missions? She hoped so. She liked the place. She didn't want to get called back yet.

Benjamin had wandered long enough to find himself on the patio, the smell of pool water rising up to greet him while his eyes found Mara. "Master Aaron says tha' you can stay as lon' as you need." He said, stopping at the edge of the pool. How he longed to feel cold water on his body again. Clearing his throat, the young man began to take off his gear. "Hope ya don' mind if I go for a swim. Master Aaron assures me I ge' a few days' res' before I'm needed again."

He shrugged off the gear as though it was a jacket and untied his weapons' belt that consisted of the pistol he wore at his hip. He set it carefully across one of the tables sitting on the patio and undid the strap that hid his throwing daggers before setting it on the lounge chair and removed his hidden blades next. He had grown used to two hidden blades, like Ezio from the Renaissance. The only thing left for him to remove, really, was the clothes beneath and his fingerless gloves that he always wore.

He took off his gloves first and then removed his shirt, his muscles flexing tightly against his well toned skin. His fingers touched the belt of his pants and he paused for a moment, feeling heat rise into his cheeks at the thought of removing them in front of a young woman. Clearing his throat, he swiftly removed to his boxers, which he used for swimming trunks whenever he came back from a mission. As soon as he'd shaken off his pants, he dove into the water with a splash before he resurfaced, his hair wet and plastered to his head.

Mara turned to Benjamin when he came at her, telling that apparently, she could stay as long as she would like to stay. For a second, she wanted to smile, thankful, but her face had long forget how to sincerely smile like she would have wanted to do. She just nodded softly. “Thank you, my dear. I’ll do my best to help” She waited a moment for him to continue talking and again, nodded. He wanted to go swim, she wasn’t one to stop him. “Yeah, sure, go ahead”

He started taking off his gear and Dake kept looking at him, just as if it was nothing. But when she saw him blushing, she raised an eyebrow. Why was he… but then, she blushed too and raised both eyebrows. He was taking off his pants. Quickly, she looked away while feeling her heart beating faster and faster in her chest. She had to keep near from him, but how could she, when Benjamin was showing himself like that? Her whole face was burning hot. He wasn’t unpleasant to the eye, that was for sure. And that was also why she was so nervous and disturbed. How could she even stay calm when he was… she looked back at the pool, trying not to look too embarrassed.

Mara felt her heart miss a beat when Benjamin came out of the water. Why did she had to look at him at that exact moment? He was so... She stayed like a statue for several seconds before she sighed. Slowly sitting near the pool, she took off one of her gloves to touch the water with her fingers, quietly running them in the clear liquid. She stayed in complete armor. If she wasn’t so shy, she would have joined him, but she really didn’t wanted to take off her clothing and to go in the water too. She kept silent for a moment before she raised her blue eyes to look at Benjamin. “If you want me to leave you alone, I can do so if you ask me to. Am I bothering you?”

Benjamin couldn't help but laugh when she thought she was bothering him. "No' a' all!" He stated with a laugh, floating over to the pool's edge and hoisted himself halfway out, shivering as the cool air of night touched his wet skin. "You could join me, ya know. The pool's bi' enough for two or three." At that moment, he took a breath and did a side dive back into the water. before he resurfaced again, shaking his head around so that his hair seemed to wrap around his forehead.

Mara said no words, shyly looking at the water. He was basically asking her to come and join him. But she already was tremendously shy about the situation. She didn't rose her eyes to his, in fear he would see her red cheeks and laugh. She simply said after a moment:

"I... have no swimming suit"

That was the only answer she gave him before she shook her head and looked up at him.

"I understand there that you won't be having missions for a while?" she said, trying to avoid the pool subject.

Benjamin shook his head as he floated in the water, the cold sensation blissful against his skin. "The Master's lettin' me have a couple days off," he stated, his legs barely stirring the water beneath the surface. "And you could jus' swim in your shir'. I did when I firs' came 'ere!"

Mara stayed like that for a moment before she shyly nodded. In anyways, she really had to take off the armor that was starting to feel heavier on her shoulders. Slowly, she started by taking off the bracers, then the whole armor. She suddenly felt lighter. She loved her outfit, but it did turn her into a heavy fighter.

When she finally found herself dressed in mere black t-shirt and matching leggings, she touched the water with her nude foot. It was cold, but not awful yet. She took a deep breath and entered the water, but stayed in her corner, arms crossed on her chest, trying to avoid eye contact. Her fine brown hair was floating on the top of the water. The poor girl really needed to take off her gears and take time, at least a few minutes, to think about something else than her duty. It has been ages since she didn't do so.

Benjamin couldn't help himself and immediately sent water over to her corner. With elegance not belonging to a human, the young man pushed himself away from her with a laugh before he took a breath and dove beneath the surface for a moment. He resurfaced a good distance away from her, his arms and legs keeping him afloat.

Mara screamed a little, not expecting to get water on her right after she had moved in. She looked totally stunned before she had a light amused smile. She stayed like that a moment before she simply looked at him moving so easily in the water. Benjamin looks surreal. Just like if he had been trained to swim since forever. Mara stayed like that before he came back out of the water. She frowned and sent water back to him, just as he had a few seconds before.

"That was for sending me water without asking!" she said. Her voice was playful and sort of happy, even if she wasn't smiling much.

Benjamin took the water with grace and dignity, shutting his eyes before any got into them and chuckled. "I's no' my faul'," he said with an innocent grin. "You looked like you needed help." On the side of the pool, Ezio was laughing while Altaïr was shaking his head, arms crossed over his chest.
"You're such a child, Beckett." Benjamin couldn't help but laugh a little at Altaïr's words. Benjamin was still young and would live until there was nothing else left. So he said defiantly:
"I will live my life how I see fi'." His words earned a roll of the eyes from Altaïr and a snorting laugh from Ezio.
"Let the boy alone, Altaïr. Let him have his fun."

"Needed help" she repeated, surprised, before she shook her head. "I am the one bringing help, here! I don't need to get help from others. It is kind of you to say that, but I'm not here to receive help" And, with a slight smile: "Not even by getting water on my face"

She kept like that a moment, before she splashed water at him, again. Mara didn't even remember when was the last time she had played like that with someone, but the pleasure of not always being on mission was coming back to her.

Benjamin laughed again and, with a deep breath after his lungs had stopped burning, dove under the water, his toes splashing down against the surface the last thing to see before he disappeared. Unbeknownst to her, Benjamin was headed over to her corner. He was just in front of her when his wrist shot up and his body dragged her under in a playful manner before he raised back up, gasping for air.
