Training (The Ghost and his Shadow)(Closed)

David awoke to the sound of birds and groaned, grabbing his head as he sat up. He had a slight hangover, yet nothing that he could not fight through. He got up and quickly put his robes on, pulling his hood up before he exited his cabin. It was a bright day out, and good day to begin the basics with his new Trainee. His Quarter Master Alyssa.

Alyssa had pulled her hair up tight so that it wouldn't get in her way. She'd been up early and had already eaten. She was eagerly waiting for her Mentor, shaking in fear.

He turned when he sense Alyssa in his presence and gave her a nod. "Are you ready to start? Think Wisely, as for when you start.. there is no turning back." He asked, reading her expression as he awaited her answer. he could tell she was afraid, which was something they would have to work on during training.

"I'm ready, Mentor. I want to fight those who took my family from me." It was true. She'd watched her father die and her mother suffer through her death when she was a child. She wanted to be able to fight against those men, even though she was afraid.

David nodded "Then let us begin. What.... do you know about the Assassins? WHo are we? What are our goals?" He wanted to know what she knew of their brotherhood, as to not waist time teaching her what she already knew. He wanted her in able fighting capabilities by the time they launched an assault on Nassau, and that could easily be months away.

"Not much I fear," she admitted softly. "I have only heard tales. Whispers. Said that you were suicidal men and women who would gladly give their lives for each other and a creed that you follow. As for what your goals are...tales say you are dangerous people looking to save the world or something."

David almost snorted "Well... you aren't wrong. We are people who live by a creed. 'Nothing is True..... Everything is permitted. This is the Creed we live by. There is much much more to it than just those words.. we have Tenents, like rules. We Have one goal... to protect the Freedom of the public. Our Nemesis being the Templars, who seek to gain order by complete control. It is a battle that has spanned centuries, since the third crusade and even before." He waited for her reaction on this information before he continued.

Alyssa stayed silent and nodded to everything he'd said so far. "What are these Tenents?" she asked eagerly.

(Why must you make me do more research? )

David spoke the words he knew so well. Ones Altair had once broken all at once... ones Ezio had sometimes broken. Ones David had broken many times over the years.. not on purpose, however. "Stay your blade from the flesh of an innocent, Hide in plain sight, and Never compromise the Brotherhood" He stated. "At one time to break any of these Tennants were a sentence of death, yet now there are different punishments."

(You should have already known this stuff. I've been a fan of this series for years before I got the games and now I'm addicted. XD)

Alyssa nodded slowly, absorbing in all this information. "Teach me, mentor," she said with a dip of her head. Despite her fear, she was eager to learn.

(I knew the basics, but the official wording I did not know XD )

David began with the Maxim.. the true Creed "To say that nothing is true, is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say that everything is permitted, is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic."

Alyssa nodded in understanding. She was prepared to take this, to embrace it. "I'm prepared to accept this, Mentor,"

David nodded at her "In that case... let us begin. I think simple sword work is a good starting point. We have a long time ahead of us, and the quicker we are done this, the sooner The Normandy can set out for the seas again" He stated simply, walking over and grabbing two wooden poles from near one of the masts and tossed one at her.

(if you wish we can rp this out, or we can time-skip past the sword fighting and maybe a couple weeks later? Where he is teaching her stealth?"

(Time skip seems plausible lol.)

About two weeks later, Alyssa was up with the sun and took a deep breath of the air. She felt good. David had seen how terrible her swordwork was and it had been embarrassing. But now she was over that and was now happily awaiting her Mentor for the next training she'd go through.

(okay, now he has to teach her something else.... hmmmm)

David stood on the Deck of the Normandy as they sailed on the open waves. They had Havana as their destination. A second rate Templar who would be perfect as Alyssa's first target. Yet she still had much to learn. As she had done well with her swordwork, he was progressing to hand to hand combat. He awaited her to come out so they could begin. With any luck, he would be bruised and bloodied by the end of the day.

Alyssa came out of the captain quarters and stood beiside her Mentor, looking out over the ocean toward Havana. She was nervous and it was clear on her face and her shaking hands. She hoped she'd do good.

"You have a while to go before you strike Alyssa, remember that. I am just putting us in place so we can research our target more closely" He stated noticing how nervous she looked "So now that you are decent with a sword, we are going top progress to hand to hand. In what we do, we are sometimes captured and need to fight our way out without our weapons. The next week will be spent learning as many techniques as you can without weapons... then I will be adding weapons into the mix." He did not plan to spend all day every day on that though, they would be doing that as he taught her other things.

Alyssa nodded at her Mentor's words. She was still nervous. She'd heard how there was a large group of strange, dangerous men who made Havanna their home, but it looked like it was the truth after all. Being in this position was what was making her nervous.

He softened slightly and said quietly, a finger reaching up to stroke her cheek. "Do not hold back, as I am honored bound not to as well. It would do no good for you to train against a dumbed down version my meself, as the enemy will not hold back. Just remember I am not like those men..." he then stepped back and began to disrobe until he was left in nothing but his pants. It was a hot day and it would be a hard one to make it through.. as he did not plan on taking many breaks.

Alyssa had closed her eyes at David's gentle touch against her cheek and upon seeing him practically take his robe off in front of her made her face turn red. But she didn't blame him. It was pretty hot out, which was why she was wearing a tank top with thin material pants that hugged her legs and allowed for more maneuverability. "I'll do my best, mentor." she said softly.

(I CAN ACTUALLY TEACH THIS CAUSE I'M A BROWN BELT IN MARTIAL ARTS! I literally used to teach this every Tuesday XD )
David smiled slightly as he saw her reddened face and then opened his arms up wide "Come on Lass, give me your best shot!" He smirked slightly... this could turn out to be very fun, not matter how serious it really was.

(XD I've always wanted to take martial arts)

Alyssa took a deep breath and widened her stance before she took a shot at him, swinging her arm wide. Her hand was balled into a tight fist.

David easily dodged it. "Come on, I said take your BEST shot at ME, not the air" He smirked, staying still waiting for her next attack.

Anger folded into her chest and then she yelled and rushed him, throwing a hard punch at his face and then drove the other towards his gut in a fake punch.

David sighed as she attacked in anger. Because of that she was easy to read. He ignored her fake punch and grabbed her punching wrist, twisting it behind her back and pinning her against one of the mast's. He then whispered in her ear "Never, attack with anger. Not only is anger not our way, it gives away your moves. If I was a Templar I could do whatever I wanted to you right now." He then pulled back and ordered "Again. make sure to keep your balance while you punch, yet throw your body weight into it."

(you know this feels like a scenimatic from AC. I feel like every time she begins to make some sort of progress we should time skip. XD)
