Just something I've found useful on another forum I'm on is a "Story Planning" section for each genre or era. Not sure if this appeals to anyone else, but I've found it a good way to pitch a concept and see who's interested.

Seems like a good idea. Would it just revolve around a central plot with an idea for its ending and everyone works together to lead up to the end? If not, how would "Story planning" work?

Well you don't necessarily need to have an ending in mind, but it certainly allows a level of structure and knowing what the RP is all about. Most RP's on here start with one person starting it off then people randomly joining without having any particular direction. Plus it would help organize an RP if say you wanted to do all pirates or all Templars. You could also set a limit on the people you wanted to join, etc. Of course it would be optional though, you wouldn't have to do it.

Another thing that there was, on a site I was on years ago, was a huge central plot. Like a main storyline to tie all of the characters together that changed with the completion of each story, which for this forum may be difficult, but I think a central story for each era could be awesome.

I think that would be extremely difficult to and very limiting, especially with Assassin's Creed. The historical aspect means everything is already somewhat confined and the existence of the narrative created by the games limits it even further. Then once a certain era passes you can never go back to it again, which is all well and good if you're taking something beyond events of a world such as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, but is awkward to pull off if you're wanting to have the same historical theme to things.

This isn't to say it can't be done, but it would have to ditch the categorized eras in place of something much more fluid in a completely different section. It would be interesting for character applications to, in addition to the first character, have a section for their bloodline as the timeline moves along and you take on the role of their descendants. But again, something like that would be complicated to pull off and would need serious, dedicated writers.
